had a kind of break in today at the yard where i work....not like its locked so that's why its a kind of break in. plus we reckon its a disgruntled ex employee who has come in. long story, anyway bin lids were off, and there was a dead mouse nearby, plus someone slashed up the new owners logo thing and had put it in the sugar beet bin.
with good reason we're worried feeds have been tampered with, but police won't take any away to test it. as i said long story but things are really getting to the point where us thinking they'd put poison in the feeds isn't just paranoia.
anyway does anyone know of a lab where we can send feed samples away? police had no idea.
and until they get their fingers out and provide a secure place to keep feed, poor horses are having to go without a hard feed. on the up side at least now we're getting cctv and a locked room

Hi Noble
Tis a strange and worrying time for those involved when people turn to this kind of behaviour.

However it's rare...very rare.. for someone to be able to contaminate feed, or have the facilities to obtain any contaminant.

http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/vla/

Thats the weblink for the VLA who are able to assist you in this case, they may be willing to test at there own labs, or they'll provide a list of proper certificated agents who can perform a genuine and in depth test for you.

What I will say... if you go for a full test on a feed sample... that sample should be packed in a clean sterile container that has NOT been used for any purpose and has not been in contact with any animals or animal feed stuffs.
Prior to sending, seal the container with double layer packing tape to prevent access, and if your circumstances permit.....
I strongly suggest you use a courier to deliver the sample on a dedicated vehicle... ie the courier will collect your sample and only that sample... they will then deliver it direct to the testing lab and obtain a signature and printed name, this would be required to use any testing results as evidence in the future. Sending by overnight couriers and the mail system would prevent you from proving the samples were not contaminated en route.

If you need assistance re the courier side, feel free to pm me, I have knowledge of various specialists who provide the service you require.

yeah cause shipping feed via bike is easy
