Is it possible? And what weights could an 11.3 pull.

Fatpony has been sat in the feild now and can be very good or very very spooky depending on who is around him (methinks someone had given him something the day of the sale ). and i think he would be much happier if he had a bit of work to do.

Couple of people had suggested breaking him into driving a little trap.

Has anyone done this- what does it entail etc etc.

peanut butter cookies for everyone.

Well hundreds of Section As do driving. Lots of work and lots of pitfalls. Must be 100% de spooked, traffic proof, etc, not mind anything around or between his legs, above, behind, over tail, etc. etc. So you start off with long reins and getting the pony to obey voice commands.

You must find someone to help, and preferably someone who has done it before. If the pony has a fright it will never be reliable and there have been too many terrible accidents.

It is a good idea to do though, to be able to work the pony. The best thing is to find your local driving club and go along and get some hints and tips. Also, has the pony ever seen other ponies pulling a carriage? That can freak them out as they think it is some kind of monster, so you need to get the pony familiar and happy with seeing others in harness pulling something.

People I know who drive say that often their ponies and horses seem happier to be driven than ridden.

Thanks for that, thats really helpful.

theres a local guy that does it and he has mentioned it to me a couple of times. i will definitely have a look.

Its funny because he is totally unspooked if we are moving him, walking him along the road, when the quads go past. he it quite as a mouse. its literally when he is in the feild, he is also pretty naughty and i do think its because he isnt being stimulated as much.
