Does anyone do this themselves? Currently have a nearly 4 year old who needs breaking in. Full arab with bolshy attitude.
I don't have the time or facilities to do him, so have decided that I should let someone else do him.
Really stuck actually, and am thinking, wouldn't it be wonderful if someone loaned him for several motnhs to work on him and have fun with him, enjoy him for a while, leaving me in the knowledge that he is being cared for and is happy and he can come home to me after a while and be used.
(Can you tell there is some sort of plea in here......)
Am in a real predicament just now (again!) so much for my happy post, remember not to be too positve Jane, it don't work.........

I think the problem is unless you pay, people would be reluctant to do it. I know I wouldn't want to pour lots of time, money and effort to produce a horse only to give it back just when you get to the good bit (i.e. when they are riding nicely and ready to do more). Sorry

Dunno, you can but ask

You never know, someone might want to do the finishing and enjoy a horse for several months.
Most of his educating has been done, we just don't have an area to back him, unlike when Phantom was backed, at least we could use the school then!

several months is all the hard work! getting him going etc. would prob be easier to pay to have him backed to just hacking or something then have him back to continue training. i break horses in but prob not near you, where are you based?

I can't think of anyone who'd want to break a bolshy horse for the fun of it, knowing they'll have to give the horse back afterwards. It's the most dangerous and skilled and time consuming part of riding, and I'd be wary of anyone who offered to do it for free, because they might not do it properly and you'd be left with a bigger problem than you started with.

In reply to all the above (yes Ian could do it) but what Jane is saying is that we need the space and dont have a school she is not expecting him to be brocken educated then handed back she thought maybe someone wanted a horse to work with take to shows hack on enjoy, then when he is older and more mature then to have him back not just oh cheers for breaking him in I will have him back now!!!!!!! don't a lot of people put horses out for long and short term loans maybe I just dreamt that!! not every horse goes out on permanent loan, there are people out there that want something to work with for a while, and as for his bolshyness he is not a dangerous horse nor does he have a bad attitude he is now just needing to do something which is why jj is looking for a home for him as she doesnt have the time to do him at the moment so it is better for HIM to go on loan for a while!!!!!!

Well if you wanted someone to do it for you why buy him in the first place! You obviously don't know what your doing! hahaha

Kreios, why don't you just say "I have a problem with JavaJane and am trying to undermine her" rather than make the 2 posts you have. I thought half term was over?

Weezy, I completely agree with you.

Kreios, why are you pulling up posts which are ancient? And written by JJ?
