Please could someone recommend me a breaking saddle for my 3yr old 16.1hh wbxtb. And can anyone recommend places to look for 2nd hand ones?
Will probably need a 17.5" seat.
I was thinking about one with an adjustable gullet as I have a thorowgood for my cobxid which is brilliant cos she changes shape over the year, but I wont have a wintec due to previous bad experiences.
Many Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated

As always I recommend working with a good fitter - young horses backs are especially soft and vulnerable and your saddle not only needs to look like it fits statitcally but it needs to be stable as you ride - predicting that from looking at it on an unbacked horse is tricky. The big yards of course have loads to try and swap between, but otherwise, a good fitter is essential IMHO. Adjustable is fine if it fits and is stable, but they dont' fit everything, far from it.

Ebay has them for very little money, if it's light weight and you use a good numnah like sheep skin and or a gel pad you should be ok as long as you make sure it doesnt pinchhim anywhere or press on his spine, so unless you've got loads of money it will be a case of use what you can afford, which is absolutely fine!!!!

Why not get a fitter out to look at him and just suggest what kind of thing will or won't fit him? then get some that should fit in the first place?

Fitters are so good on what tree shape will fit.

I had the fitter yesterday for my young horse, didn't want to start working her and cause discomfort.

The fitter watched her lunge and then I sat on her and she was led just a few steps. She hasn't been backed yet properly, just sat on stationary a couple of times. The fitter knew this, and having seen that it was good on the lunge she wanted to see my weight on it.
