My youngster loves to put anything in his mouth and I mean everything - if it’s within reaching distance of his field it’s in his mouth and/or shredded, this currently includes the breast bar of the trailer, which is looking a little moth eaten after his attempts on it on our travels out 😂 can’t use piping or similar or any sort of tape as he’s also peeled that off for the aforementioned reason, that it will be chewed, any ideas for covers or inspiration?

I’m not really into stopping him as he’s 4 and just that age that everything goes in the mouth (I mean everything in reach is in the mouth given the chance)just wondering if there are more ‘resilient’ covers or similar, as I can’t seem to find anything useful on Google. The teeth marks are already there now, so I’m not too concerned what the bar looks like going forward, more for my aesthetics.

I’d take a horse who travels well, but insists on fiddling with his mouth then making it an unpleasant experience

Do you think he is teething, or soothing himself by chewing? If you are not bothered how it looks, you could always bind pads of hay around the bar. At least it will keep him busy, and hopefully he may grow out of the habit whilst you save up to replace the breast bar!

Pool noodles!
Cut a slit in them pop them over the bar, wrap thoroughly with a layer of duct tape.

Doesn't look terrible, still offers a bit of padding, takes 5 minutes and its cheap and easy to replace when they inevitably have a chomp on it.

Was just about to say, pool noodles or pipe lagging which are very similar

Pool noodles, pipe lagging and duct tape won't survive the horse!. Plastic drainpipe, cut along the length, in three pieces. Clip each piece over the bar, or slide it on. Being in three pieces means it will rotate if rubbed against and is easier to fit and change if damaged. The drain pipe could be fitted over pipe lagging if necessary.
