There are several different types of breast plate's on the Market. What are the difference? In particular, wondering about the pressure they put on the horse and the flexibility of there movement?

I have 16.1 ISH who is fairly broad as the breast plate i have just doesnt seem to sit right.

I'd be interested to know what u all recommend??*

Thanks.*

Hi there

I was given a jeffries 5 point for christmas and tried it on my horse at the time (16h WB) and my current horse (17h ISH) and it didn't fit either of them, it looked loose when you put it on my 16h but when you got on and walked around you could feel it tighten at his shoulder on every step in walk!

I sold it on Ebay as I wasn't happy with it, and went back to my hunting one - however a HHOer recommended the Mark Todd V Check breast plate, which is just like a hunting one, only the neck strap is elastic. I have bought two now as I really like them.

They don't seem to restric the shoulder at all :)

I am using an Evision Equine 5 point breastplate atm, which I am finding is really helping keep my saddle in place - we don't have any wither at all (its a pony thing!)

I have a kate negus elasticated but hunting style one, & a stubben hunting style one, & like both, also use racing breastplates a lot if needed & would rather use this with a hunting one that a 5 point one, just not a fan of 5 point ones, i think they just seem a little too fixed in terms of shoulder movement

Yes i too have an Evison Equine one, its excellent, lovely leather, the sheepskin pads are real sheepskin and can be removed for washing as they attach by velcro. www.evisonequine.co.uk
