I want to replace my current breastplate which is all leather, with one that is elasticated for more give. I quite like the look of this Amerigo one,

as its basically the same shape as my current one and not too in your face! I've never had any problems with the saddle slipping back so I presume there is no need to go the way of a breastgirth or combination breastplate but I'm interested to see what others think of pros and cons of this traditional style breastplate.

looks pretty nice to me. i've used that sort of traditional type with elastic for years, am quite tempted to try the 5-point jeffries one though, you can get them on ebay for just over £100 ish i think, and someone on here said they stop her horse's shoulders from getting stiff.

Friend of mine has an amerigo one the same as that one and it looks really smart, nice and discrete but does the job well

Hiya, i have a Mark Todd breastplate similar to the Amerigo one. Mine was around £79 and it comes in both Black and Brown. It's very smart and excellent value for money. I'm sure equestrianclearance stock them aswell

Thanks all for comments. Am also tempted by the Jeffries 5point one but don't want to look like I know what I should be doing when I fall on my arse, if that makes sense!
