Breastplate for horse with huge shoulders

As above really! I'm looking for a breastplate for the 6 year old oaf - ideally hunting style rather than 5 point, but am struggling! I've tried a stubben full size, it's too short from point of chest to wither, then too short on the straps that attach to the saddle....plus the bit that goes on between his legs only works on the last/loosest hole - which means my girth barely fits. It was the biggest one I could find in the shop, so that means Jeffries and Kincade are out.

Does anyone have any suggestions please? It seems to mainly be the top of his shoulder - so the bit just below his wither, for about 6 inches, that is huge if that helps!

Full breastplates don't fit mine either, you should be able to get an extra full? I'm not sure what make mine is but it's plenty big enough.

Albion XL will fit the biggest horses I bought one recently new from a eBay shop at a good price it's hunter style with elastic sides it's really nice quality I think they had all leather as well.

My ID takes an Jeffries XL hunt breast plate with detactable martingale attachment. They are more £ than the normal breast plates though but they are huge but if you are short for the straps that go to the saddle, add couple of trigger clips and also added advantage of being easier to pop on/take off

I'm trying a 5 point breastplate from morris and nolan, I have bought XXF. Even the XF jeffries was very tight. I'm not sure if they do the larger sizes in the hunter breastplates, but worth an ask. They sell them at risley saddlery.

Have a look at the Sabre ones they go to X full which is a Clydesdale fitting size!

I have an XF Jefferies 5 point that needs extra elastic putting in it. I wondered if they size them small.

I've got an XF Kincade hunting breastplate on my 17.3hh WB with massive front and it fits him well when everything else was too small. Great quality for the price. Nobody can tell it's a cheapo

I agree putting trigger clips where it joins to the D rings of your saddle at the wither not only gives extra length to the straps but makes them much quicker to put on/off.

I've Jeffries for our Irish Draught and Irish Hunter. Almost certain it is an extra full size but it comes up HUGE! I usually use it on the tightest setting...with room to spare.

Lovely leather too. It gets used every week for hunting and still looks and feels in great condition!

Give Sabre a try. I have a full size on my traditional and theres plenty of space left on it ...it's even had an extra hole punched on the bit to the girth as was too loose (while my Idx has the kincaid full and thats doesn't seem quite as big...they are pretty much the same fit for most things). And as mentioned further up they also do Xtra full size. I *think* the website actually has the measurements for each item and the size.

Firstly - does your horse actually need a breastplate? They seem to have become a fashion trend.

If your saddle fits then it shouldn't move back. If it doesn't move back then you don't need a breast plate

The easiest sort to use is a basic elasticated one that doesn't go between the front legs has a strap that goes to the D's on the front of the saddle. It won't cost much to have these made extra long. Many come with a loop to fit a martingale strap through, you remove the neck strap of the martingale.

Saddles generally only slide back if they have too much padding under them in the way of saddle blankets, numnahs and half pads. The majority of saddles do not need all this extra padding they just cause the saddle to slide back and from side to side. Then to combat that they girth up so tightly the poor horse can barely breathe.
