Have finally found a saddle that fits the Fury properly and the OH finds nearly comfy. Problem is that it doesn't have the same fittings on it as the other saddle and the breastplate rings are further back.

Now the Breastplate that came with him is too small I figure it’s just a full size as I have tried a hunting one on and that is too small in the same way. He has a huge shoulder and very high withers and both seem to cut up into where his neck meets his chest.

Now would a Jeffries 5 point fit him or will they be too small? Otherwise I guess I need an extra full hunting one.

Oh and last Q is: the saddle is a 2nd hand tan stubben he has a brown bridle and bp at the mo. If I have to buy a hunting one should I get a stubben in tan along with a new tan bridle or will he look silly? He is so grey he is white if that helps

Thanks

Elasticated where? the one he came with is an elasticated one, its elasticated at the sides and conects straight to the saddle without the strap over the withers. But it still seems to cut into him.

The one I have has a leather strap over the withers and leather straps to the D rings is then elasticated from there to the leather girth strap - does that make sense? So elasticated round the chest and has movement - the leather strap across his withers sits on them but doesn't cut into him and is certainly a better fit than any of the leather ones I tried. He is 'only' 16hhs!!

I realy want a jeffries as he rubs easily and has to have fluffy bits on a the one he has now but not sure if they come up big enough.

Thats why ended up with one I have now - my local tack shop are great and the leather ones just didn't fit - one was so small/horse so big it wouldn't even reach the saddle!! Mine was a compromise as I only need it on his GP saddle for hacking etc but it certainly the better fit by far!! Tack shop were very understanding about trying on and changing them for me!! It was either that or they were going to make one for me (its a 'proper' saddlery)

I have yet to fnd a breastplate to fit my big shouldered lad. I tried the Jeffries five point and it was way too small.

There is a lovely looking extra sized one on ebay finishing today, it has gone over what I can afford at the moment but does look nice!
