Hi, I have a cob size breastplate for my 15hh connemara gelding and it's a rubbish fit. Too short from between the legs to the next straps which means the martingale is too tight and the shoulder straps sit in the wrong place and rub him. He has pretty big shoulders but not that ridiculously large and I can imagine a full size would end up far too big.

Can anyone recommend me one that they think will fit please? Don't mind if it does end up being FS so long as it doesn't drown him. Not many manufacturers give measurements on their websites.

It's just a standard hunting one I'm after but I'd also consider an elasticated neck if people have had good experiences with these.

Thanks.

I bought a nice 3 point elastic breastplate from evison equine, got a full size one on my 15hh section D although she does have an enormous front.

I use a cheap cob sized JHL one on my 15hh connie when I had him, really soft leather and looks smart. great value. It's just standard hunting breastplate.

Thanks both, really helpful suggestions so will look into these options. Played with the existing breastplate last night and it's a bit better but still not convinced. I hadn't heard of Evison Equine before but I do like the idea of a bit of elastic I must admit.

I'm thinking of buying a Shires one for my narrow chested connie x. Only seen them on line well priced at around £30 I think.

What is the quality of the Shires leather? I've only ever had their rugs and jodhpurs and while lovely they've never lasted very long.

We bought the pessoa 5 point recently having seen it reviewed in H&H. It is a bit difficult to get hold of - if you ring the stockist they'll send you one. All the main straps are a double elastic cord so the fit is going to be pretty much perfect on almost anything. And a £55 for a 5 point fantastic value!

I have a bridle which is rather good and some stirrup leathers too. OK they are not the best but certainly not the worst either. They are very well priced I think.

another vote for the evison elasticated breastplate :) thye are generous in size - I think you would probably be fine with cob!
