Breastplates/breastgirths - what do you use?

Just curious really, those who use one what style do you have?

What are your reasons for using this particular style?

I use a 5point breastplate (made to measure as dodgy sized horsey!!) with detachable martingale. Because I like the idea of the pressure being spread more evenly round the horse/saddle to keep it in the correct position.
However my other horse has nothing (neck strap only for my safety!!) as doesn't need one
 
I just have an elasticated hunting breastplate - does the job fine, I don't think you NEED a 5 point unless you have a funny-shaped horse

I think mine is kincade and very cheapy - around £25, but does the job perfectly well.
 
Grey mare has a leather breastgirth (as she has a v prominent breastbone (pigeon chested) and a breastplate rubs her badly.

TB mare has an elasticated breastplate (with attached running martingale).

Horses for courses I expect.

i have a design and teknik elasticated breastplate with martingale attachments but as it clips onto grith ring i also have a cheapy kincade hunting breastplate/martingale as it goes on a plain girth for emergencies lol!!!
 
Breast girth. It's the only thing that stops Moon's saddle slipping back.
I find breast plates useless for backwards slipping but good for preventing side to side movement.

I think 5 points look very unattractive so I wouldnt use one!!
 
Hunting breastplate, and I have JUST got my Fusion 5 point - which has only been "tried on" but cant wait to use it next yr.
but for my older chap I just used a racing b.plate -elastic v good!
 
I prefer hunting breastplates with martingale attachments - I use these out hacking. For my event saddles (used for jumping) I have the jeffries 5 point breastplate.

I dont use anything when schooling.
 
I have a super 5 point one I use for XC (Used to use 2 breastplates XC - neurotic!) but I have a super collection. Love breastplates and use them all the time as per habit - only time I don't use them is for stressage

I currently like my SJ style d ring to d ring with clips - cheap, cheerful, and practical for everyday use!

i just use a brestgirth, think its a sabre one, and it does the job fine, i am so tmepted by a 5point, but A i cant afford one and B i dont need one, and would look like a numpty when falling off at the 1st fence when the horse is dressed to go round badders

I use a breastplate to help keep my horse's saddle in position as he's a high withered 18hh TB x ID. I also use it to grab on when I don't feel confident if he's a bit fresh or spooky.
 
Jeffries hunter breastplate for my cob as he is hogged it means I have an emergency handle! Then again I have never been quick enough to grab it when he has dumped me............ DOH!
