Breathing difficulty

My mare had a cough which cleared up with antibiotics from the vet but her breathing when ridden is still a little laboured. It’s mainly in canter and particularly bad on hot dry days. Should I call the vet again or could it be that she has lost some of her fitness because I haven’t ridden her as much due to her breathing.

Also can anyone suggest a suitable supplement please.

Is the breathing laboured on the in or out breaths or is she just "puffing"?

She is puffing......

She recovers very quickly.

If its Puffing (ie heavy breathing in and out) then I would say she is just unfit. generally infection or allergy is either straining / noisy on the in or out breath only, depending on which. But if she doesn't improve within a couple of weeks, I would just check again with the vet. Good luck.
