Breed ID?

Had to back off as I was a bit exhausted from the comments on here. I know people mean well but it felt a bit full on! I'm not the best at explaining myself and it's hard when people can only go by what I say and not what they see.

I've had her three weeks since Wednesday and shes come on fantastically. We've gone from having to cross the road to avoid launching at unsuspecting dogs/people to being offlead and muzzle free in the right environment.
She still reacts to things shes not sure about, people carrying open umbrellas etc. But she now retreats to me and yells at them rather than trying to assault them.
Recall is going well although we're working on the idea that you still need to come even if there is something REALLY interesting or fun elsewhere. But from nothing to where we are now (perhaps a recall 90% of the time) I'm really pleased and hopefully wont take long before the penny drops for the last little bit.

Shes good with dogs that ignore her, has learnt to play with other dogs (more recall work to then leave them and come to me) but still reacts to dogs that react to her (I pop her on lead asap when I see other on lead dogs and the reaction is less and less each time). I'm pleased that shes now confident to approach and be around other dogs but at same time, I dont want to be that person galloping after their dog yelling that they're friendly.... Mrs Spaniel is dog neutral and now she's ok with other dogs around her it's a case of getting her down that line as well.

Perhaps what I was trying to explain was that she felt she had to be alpha dog where she was but now she knows to listen to me, to follow Mrs Spaniel's lead and she's a lot happier and confident in herself because she doesnt feel pushed into a place/position she doesnt want to be in.

I'm also putting her down as a collie so we'll go from there 😊

We had the opposite from Bo. For the first few weeks, he was great on the lead out and about, but quite nervous at home. He would growl at OH when he got up in morning or came home from being out. As he got more settled at home, he got more reactive out on lead. I walk him in areas where he can be off lead as much as possible. If I see an on lead dog, or a dog is put on lead, I will call him back and hold him next to me. I do always have a bit of his kibble in my pocket to keep his attention.

This was him a couple of weeks ago, when an off lead dog appeared with no owner in sight. Dog in middle is not ours. Would have been a completely different scenario if Bo had been on lead.

I try to do as much off lead as I can, but limited where I am and more and more time pressured as sun goes - come November, parks get locked at 4pm until Feb which is a nuisance!
Early this week we were in a local park, and a woman was jogging past with a springer. I had a muzzle on Miss Collie, and I have my "safety belt" which is a bit of old lead that dangles so I have something else to grab if needed. I called her to me and had a lovely sit and her attention on me and the spaniel came bounding over and trying to get Miss Collie's attention. I pushed it away with my foot and the woman was irate with me for kicking her dog!
I pointed out that if she could see that, she must have been able to see the muzzle and lead and me training her. A week earlier and I'd have been dragging a furiously over reacting Miss Collie away from the spaniel. 🤦‍♀️
I was in the wrong apparently for having a dog out of control and it was a spaniel so what did I expect?
I pointed out Mrs Spaniel who was oblivious to whole thing and busy sniffing a patch of weed less than 3 foot away and said that I had a spaniel also and had trained her not to run up to strange dogs so perhaps she should train hers to do the same to avoid such arguments!
Thought I was going to get walloped she went so mental at me! 😂😂
But main thing was despite being puzzled at the situation Miss Collie didnt react to either the shouting woman or the overly friendly spaniel so deep breath and onwards!

I know what you mean about the restrictions. We have lots of woods, so although not locked, they are dark. I’m struggling in the mornings now as we go out about half 5 before its light.

It sounds like you are making loads of progress. Have you tried walking them separately? I can walk Bo around the roads on his own now, but he is still overly reactive if I take Luna too. Unfortunately, because of time restraints, I can’t walk them separately of a morning, hence going out in the car, in the woods, in the dark.

Again its the time constraints. I dont get in until 6. So it's nearly half 6 by time I get to a bit of woodland. An hour walking one, then back to get another. Daylight is not on my side and same in mornings.
Luckily Mrs Spaniel is relatively happy to amuse herself and follow her nose so I dont have to worry about her too much.

I am quite shocked at how quick our progress has been. I did think it might take weeks, if not months before I felt in a position to lose the muzzle and although it's very much certain places only that I do remove it, the fact that I can remove it and have the reasonable recall that I do astounds me!
I've never had a collie before and she is just picking everything up like a sponge which makes me sad that she had such a restricted start to her life!
She would be such a great well adjusted dog otherwise!

I meant more if you could walk them separately locally on lead sometimes, but get that not every one can. I certainly don’t have time of a morning.

I’m more than sure you will get there, and really do understand how we have to fit them in around us as well. We’ve had Bo since Feb, he is our 2nd collie. Our first one we adopted as a 10yo, and he was so easy going. Only thing that bothered him was guns, so couldn’t come horses during shooting season, and fireworks made him a nervous wreck. Bo has been an eye opener, but we’ll get there, and as much as he has to fit around us, we work with him too.

I am so glad she is coming on well, Karran. My mother has always had rescue collies and she wouldn't be without one now, it sounds as though you have made huge progress.
