Hattie was swabbed not so long ago. Results said she was clean, got the certificate to say so. But my vet rang up today saying the report said they found e coli on the swab and need a new one to tell if it was in her or contaminated outside. As she is in season now he came out to re-swab today (normal call out cost).
My question is why did I get a certificate saying all was negative and she was clean if they found e coli?
 
More often than not e coli is faeceal contamination when the swab is taken.
Redoing is just precautionary and most likely will come back fine.
So dont worry.
The certificates would relate to the CEM and the e coli the cervical swab
 
Phew, thats ok then. Still other £80 to have it done. She is a grotty mare and poos all down her vulva so it could be that.
 
Thats the pain i always think that if they contaminated it it shouldnt cost to have it redone but you cant prove it was there fault .
 
Well I knew this breeding malarkey was expensive. As long as I get a nice foaly at the end I don't mind.
