ps - if anyone knows of any nice sport horse type stallions standing at stud this season in Lancashire, available for natural covering please feel free to send me info!! (not that i want to get more confused but i really want to make the right choice!)

Ooops, spelling mistake under Milly's piccie, think you mean 'encountered'!??!!
Anyway, I read an interesting post recently about the real cost of breeding and I had in mind to put my mare in foal this year, now I've changed my mind!!
Nice looking mares you have, good luck with finding suitable boyfriends and the website is a great idea!!

I think the question is - what are you hoping to produce?

The grey mare is attractive, either of your proposed stallions would be nice. I wouldn't personally breed from your welsh mare, she is pretty ordinary IMO and I am a firm believer in breeding selectively and not just because I have a mare who won't/can't be doing something else.

Just my opinion...

thanks ppl (esp re the spelling mistake!!!)

my welshie is a tricky one lol - i have quite a few who wanted to buy her but she means a lot to me and i dont want to part with her - when it comes down to her, most people say get her trimmed up and sell her as a show pony, others say same - show pony find a rider for her (easier said than done!) and others say breed from her for show ponies (farrier is convinced i should use his friends shp stallion) - but then - the show pony people say dont breed from her incase she gets splints etc from the extra weight and will bruined! its prob not the best pici of her but my laptop got rebooted a few weeks ago so my picis now re on discs everywhere! i have got some pics of her when shes trimmed up but that was back when she still had a bit of foal fluff at a show we went to.

off now to search more of the stallion listings! oooo - something else i am finding....
the same stallions - are advertised on different sites for different stud fees!!! one in particular which i think is putting me off the stud as a whole!

i am near blackpool/preston but dont mind travelling a bit - but not to the other end of the country.

i've recieved a pm and it looks like the russian stallion is no longer at that stud

and there was me telling other half we were going to have a road trip at weekend!
but to be honest, i have emailed quite a few studs and havent had many replies. is this normal? i've just been asking for more info re the stallion, telling them about my mare and asking for the stud terms :S i thought if i got the info via email - it would be easier to compare etc and decide who to visit etc.

last year i ummed and arrrred about putting them in foal but with one thing and another - it never happened - i have still pondered over winter and know its what i want to do - i am not doing it for money etc as i know its going to cost me! a friend this morning was saying what about a nice coloured as they are fetching good prices - but i dont want a coloured as i am not really a coloured fan and i dont know why she thought i would be selling it! me selling a ickle foali - cant see it happening!
