I have already mentioned this in my other post but thought it might get overlooked.

Can you suggest some good books about breeding for first timers (owners not mares)?

Breeding Simplified by Sue Caldwell - Amazon Books. This is the book I advise anyone coming to one of our stallions who are first time breeders to read. Small. precise with good photos well explained.

Thanks for that, I think I have seen it on there actually. Am off to add it to my wishlist now!

You may want to consider Claus Schridde's books on Hanoverian and Holstein bloodlines. Claus Schridde is a man with just about the most extensive knowledge of breeding in Germany. This past year his books have been translated to English. They include Cor de la Bryere, Cottage Son TB, Ladykiller TB, and Hanoverian Mare Lines. Those books are worth their weight in gold. They are offered through Asmussen Verlag (Publishing) in Germany. Don't worry, they have English pages too.

I completely agree A!! Sue's book is exactly what it says for the title! Sue is also really lovely!

I found a great book which covers everything from prenatal care through to the foal's first weeks, concentrating on the time around delivery. Super book and really helpful author. It's 'Complete Foaling Manual' by Teresa Jones (ISBN: 0-9725500-0-3).

I bought my copy directly from the author but it's listed on Amazon.co.uk and also available at http://gettyequinenutrition.biz/Foalingmanualdescription.htm?gclid=CLulldaBjJcCFQ6IMAodpFkm-Q.

I really recommend it. The author also used to run an online questions and answers website. Don't know if she still does but it was great reading and very informative.

<font color="blue"> Ah, here's the link to the Q&amp;A's she used to run: http://completefoalingmanual.com/index.html
Makes quite interesting reading when you've got some time to spare
