Breeding... If you could...

IME, the thing about breeding, is you never get what you think you are going to, despite the best laid plans and pedigrees .....

Of the three that I currently own, I have bred two. They are mother and daughter and nothing alike. The best you could say is they are both female and both chestnut, but different shades of chestnut.

Diva (daughter) is by the same stallion as the Arabian in my avatar. He is a 15.3 hh purebred gelding, she is 14.3 hh and a quarter TB. Go figure:confused: And they are nothing alike either.

I wouldn't trade any of them. :p

However, if I could have Zara's (mother) great-grand daddy, Indian Magic, for a season ...........
I think that's half the beauty of it though, you breed selectively, but what you get is unique.... It's like it comes into this world pronouncing its character and yelling to the world 'I am me!' And I've turned out bay when you wanted chestnut just because I can! :)
Thank you!!

Here he is 3yrs on & the start of his education:

He is beautiful... Is that the boy who had a retained testicle... Or was that another op... Think it was. He's stunning, hope he is enjoying and excelling in his education :)
Isn't it interesting that a lot of replies have said they would want a horse bred that they have/had again? Just shows how much we appreciate and adore the horses we come into contact with :)

I suppose its because if we didn't love them so much we wouldn't still be doing it, they are our inspiration, and as you say it's lovely :) my beautiful girl is dead, but what a horse she was, now that was also down to who she was, but the x of tb and Friesian... Love to see more of that. Was really impressed with her

I'd get a couple of andi mares to put to my friesian stally Wessel - the cross is a very nice one and make great clasical dressage horses, trouble is all the andi mares I like are about 20+ grand - I'll keep playing the lottery!!!:D I have done the TB x friesian though and really like them, they make fab allround gg's and can pretty much do most jobs to a high level, also the 3/4 bred friesian 1/4 coloured WB mix can be very nice too and maybe something I might try in the future!!:D
