I am using Inky for the first time this year to stand at public stud. I am offering free covering for the first two mares as he hasnt been used before and i have no progeny to advertise.

I have a lady wanting to use Inky and wants me to keep her mare for 3 weeks on grass livery. it would cost me £10 a week to keep an aditional mini so how much should i charge ontop of this?? She really wouldnt take much care as obviously on grass livery.

Hi,

Oh I am pleased to hear that you are going to use Inky:D

I have pm'd you a copy of my breeding contract and that has livery amounts on it, but most studs seem to charge board by the day. I would charge say 2 or 3 pounds a day, 10 years ago in the UK I was paying 5 pounds a day for a dry arab at grass livery.

well you need to cost in the commercial liability and 3c costs! and your business rates etc! what they eat at grass livery, field maintenance fert rolling harrowing fencing etc! water rates. and remenber a small dog in kennels is 8 to 10 pounds a day! a cat is around 9 per day! its the commercial liability and 3 c that bumps the costs up!!! and the business rates!
