My friend has bought a QH yearling which she intends to breed from in time. The filly has a umbilical hernia to which her vet has said should not cause a problem. Will this hernia go against her in the show ring? I don't know how big it is until I see the filly at the weekend but have been told you can get 2 fingers in the 'gap'. Any info much appreciated.

Hernia's can be treated! Sometimes they can grow out of them with time (had a couple do this), they can band certain types (i've had this done with one and its was very successful) and they can operate on them (I've not had to result to this yet!)
