Hello,

I am looking for breeding stallion owners to take part in my pilot dissertation questionnaire based on stud fees, and for feedback for the questionnaire, this is only the pilot so as much criticism as possible would be appreciated,

Thank you!

Hi :)

under question 13 it would be nice to see an option 'conforms to breed specification'. There is no point in breeding a conformationally correct animal with a lovely temperament, if it looks nothing like it's supposed breed specification.

Good luck with the disseration :)

That's a brilliant idea - thanks texas! I will include it in my actual questionnaire! I didn't actually expect to get so many showing responses, but that's brilliant as I suppose it is an awful about the breeding in showing, I think I will really have to read up on my showing for the excellent responses I've been given - unfortunately too "dressage", "Sj" and "eventing" thinking at the moment!!! lol

Not sure if mine quite fits in at present as he is not available at stud as he has not yet been graded yet. He is a very immature 3yo, so not even backed and I won't take him for grading until well-established under saddle, with a decent competition record and I know his brain can cope with his b*lls and competing at the same time. If he doesn't meet that, then it will be a visit to the vet.
(I'm one of the vocal ones who thinks both stallions and mares should be graded and have a competition record before breeding!)

Happy to fill in though if you think it would help. I would be interested in the outcomes of your study, as I sometimes struggle to see where the stud fee comes from for some stallions.

So you take one of your stallions which only the owner (me) knows the name and then fill out the questionnaire about this xy stallion? I already hang on the question AI chilled semen and AI fresh semen WHAT is the difference? We ship fresh semen that will be inseminated the next day after receipt so what is the correct to cross here and what does chilled semen mean? All fresh semen shipped has to be chilled to not go bad....?????

Thanks flyingcolors, I have had an email about this issue already the fresh/chilled semen issue, my mistake, and I've changed it now, but thank you for bringing it up, must've been on another planet or something during the writing/reviewing of that question :/

Thanks everyone for such a great contribution, have got loads and loads of answers now, and very good feedback, I am now ready to adjust everything in the hope to produce my final piece :)

THANKS :)

I haven't seen the actual question, so could be wrong, but with my stallion we do offer on-site AI with fresh semen. He only does AI, but for visiting mares this is AI with fresh semen, not chilled. So for my boy and possibly others, this would be a legitimate distinction.
