Breeds / types... variety, or are you sold on one?

My old boy was an Irish cob, and my new horse is an Anglo Arab (25% Arab). At what point will I know whether he has allowed me to be his human? Or does it only count with pure breds? :o

Don't know about your boy, but mines very much a one-person horse.
He was very troubled when he came to me and has totally changed. He just used to watch me from a distance....very wary. Now he watches me, comes over, calls to me.....very affectionate. So .....yeah, I'm his human now.:)

My previous PBA was very similar.....

When I was looking to buy, I kind of knew what I would end up with...

I needed something chunky enough to take my weight, short enough that I stood a chance of clambering on from the ground, kind and steady enough for me to cope with, but not an absolute shuffly plod... Probably a gelding, but no white as fed up with trying to keep coloured or light horses clean!

Ended up with a coloured cob :D

I always wanted a Welsh D, but I think to be honest, they would have been too smart and hot for me! Irish is a bit less sharp

at the mere age of 18 i've had 3 welshies one of whom we still own 18 years later, 2 new forests, 1 arabx connie(still have her), 1 arabxTB, 4 TBs(i still own one), 1 idxTB and one Warmblood and 2 weeks ago i gained a welshxISH...

but forever will i be sold to my ex-racehorses, they are my passion after getting my first when i was 11 years old since then i've never looked back, though i have had other horses i will accept other horses but now i will stick to my TB baby and Ollie to make sure they have safe homes, and to keep my late mothers horse and my first pony as i no longer want to keep meeting new horses i want to get to know these horses now and make them happy

Obviously new forest. Big horses in pony bodies. They do everything asked of them but do occasionally add their own idea of fun. I do pretty much like any native breed but they have to be very well bred same as new forests. Never really been the horsey type, thoroughbreds don't do it for me and working on a warmblood stud errr they don't do it for me either - dumblood springs to mind!!

I got my first New Forest yearling, Sunny, a couple of months ago. All my life I've kept and ridden horses, but I've never had a pony since I was a child. My new boy is By 'Thatcher's Dun Roamin' and is a bay roan that is expected to make 14.2hh. I bought him almost on a whim, as my old 16.2hh Hanoverian, Freddie, who came to me at the age of five months, is now rising 27 and retired. Since I'm no spring chicken, I decided to go for a pony. Anyone else here own forester? :)

Natives for me. Especially Connemara's, I adore my boy and all the ones I've met and ridden have been great. I have a huge soft spot for welsh section A's, I plan to have one as a companion for the foreseeable future and do inhand showing. I like their fiesty attitudes in small bodies! Although, my welsh is particularly difficult so I would prefer my next one to have had a better start in life.

Yes, I've been reading a lot about the Connemaras. The description of their character and temperament sounds very similar to the New Forest pony. I also had a Welsh pony many years ago. What a character . . . . . and *very* sneaky! ;)

Love welshies! I'm only 4'11" and only 7st so anything too tall is out of the question! I have a welsh section D / Dales type and absolutely love her but she is 14.3 and takes up a lot of my leg so I look like a pea on a drum lol! When I went looking for the little fella I wanted a coloured cob that could fly over jumps
What I got was a little 13hh showy welsh C cross B. I love welshies for their looks and fieriness as well as their manuverability and size
