GSDs, but only the type like Mooblis Zak, and Malinois. And I always admire working border collies, I have a show line who I adore and is perfect for the life we have but the work ethic of a proper border collie is something else.

You have good taste in dogs 😉😁

Scottiies and cairns for me, also love Huskys. Have never owned a Husky but support the rescue kennels where they can be rehomed.

Rhodesian ridgeback (unfortunately a bit too big for me to lift over stiles and life expectancy is too short for OH), great dane (as before plus slobbery), GSD (too much hair)

I always fancied a Shiba Inu but I hear they can be rather difficult! Would love another Border Collie as I grew up with them and I love the breed but not currently got the right lifestyle for one :(

Newfoundland leonberg or bernese mountain dog I love them all but the house is too small. We used to breed Newfoundlands when we had a big house and land. We have a labrador now and always had Goldies but they became a bit neurotic so went for a Lab cannot imagine how we can not have one now she is wonderful but she does smell and as said before I havent met one that lived in a small house that didnt

I've owned Shibas for over 20 years. They are not for everyone. A typical spitz breed in many ways, most are very opinionated lol. But they are all very different. Socialisation is the key.

Have owned - Airedales, scruffy hunt-type terriers of any sort, rough haired lurchers, pugs (have been lucky with all mine, healthy little dogs with great personality). Those I would like to own or just admire - smooth collies, dalmatians, borzois, deerhounds...I haven`t enough years left unless I had them all at once!

Living in the hobbit house, I have a self-imposed limit of two small dogs (currently JRT X Pom and JRT X Chi) but if I had the space I would love:

Irish setter
Flatcoat retriever
Golden retriever
Saluki
Welsh Colliie

The size is why I love them haha! They're so lazy that they're no bother in the house - I lived with two and a Springer x Lab in a mobile home for two years and the little Springador caused the most problems. When they're in the house, they're asleep.

Also never feel unsafe with a Dane around. They're useless, but they are big and scary looking.

One day I want a duck Toller retriever. A friend bred them when I was younger and the little puppies are just gorgeous, and the adults have such good temperaments and looks. I need more time to be able to exercise one though and a big garden! So for now I’ll stick to smaller low maintenance breeds.

Spitz types, having grown up with a Keeshond. Weirdly, I don’t include huskies in there, they just don’t ring my bell. Being a crap housewife, I doubt I’d have one.

Setters, springers, munsterlanders, I like the markings.

The only Dane I know belongs to a famous person down the road and regularly goes in the helicopter with her. I’m mates with her dog sitter and went round for coffee one day. The dog knows me, so was fine, but my OH was new to her. She went up him, his head was at the same height as hers where he was sitting and she growled straight into his face. 🙍‍♂️

I suppose I've been lucky, out of the 5 breeds I admire the most I've owned/own 3 of them.

I always liked Boxers when I was young so when I got my own place I got a Boxer puppy, she was amazing but loopy!
The same with English Bulldogs, I've got one :)
When I saw an article about Dogue de Bordeauxs in a magazine I knew I had to have one, over the years I've had 7. They are fantastic dogs but sadly I think Thor will be my last, advancing years & a bad shoulder injury means training a lively puppy would be too difficult.
The 2 I haven't owned but would have loved too are the English Mastiff & Newfoundland but it's unlikely to happen now.

Me too! One day I will have a toller.

I’ve always wanted a nice small working cocker but have been cautious due to their mentalness - luckily for me at some point this year I’m rehoming an adult working cocker from a working home, she is just a bit too lazy & low drive so she is coming to me to be a pet/hobby beating dog.

When my old lab goes I think I will get another Manchester terrier pup

Anatolian shepherd dogs - have wanted one forever!
Kangals
English setters
Red setters
Dalmatians

...But my all time favourite breed has to be a staffie. They are the most superb cuddle monsters ever.

Lots of beautiful dogs here! Does anyone have/ want a sheltie? I am tempted to get on of those too but the idea of their coat maintenance puts me off
