BREEDS YOU DISLIKE/HATE

the only breed i absolutely would not want to have is Cleveland Bay, because the ones i have known have taken obstinacy and downright bloodymindedness to an art form.
other than those, i'm open to anything, and openminded about what anything can do.

Seriously I think everyone has to keep an open mind, I hated coloureds until the moment I reluctantly tried Oshk out, but hey, beauty isn't skin deep you know!
 
Don't like the look of quarter horses. Don't like appaloosa eyes and tails. Don't like blue eyes. Don't like heavy coarse cobs, esp those with blue eyes! Don't like piggy eyes. Don't like saggy bottom lips and common heads.
 
I dislike most coloureds (I wouldn't even buy one no matter how good the horse was... I even turned down the chance of viewing a decent eventer before I bought Ali because he was coloured...

) and heavy cobs... I'm not a fan of Fjords or Appaloosas either.

Try being an Arab-lover whose main discipline is endurance - now, that's being in a minority on here!

It's a pity that most people seem to encounter the daftest kind of Arab. In my experience they're bright, loyal, hardy, eager to please, have long and unforgiving memories, fast, and second to none for stamina.
 
Wow if I could have a quid from everyone that disliked hairy, coloured cobs I would be rich.

I don't dislike any breed, there are some horses I wouldn't have because of there individual looks/personality but not one breed I would not have.
 
Ali has a good bit of Arab blood on his dam's side... He has an Arab head and a Danish a*se

Well said! Although I think you probably get more respect with an endurance Arab than a poncey in-hand show Arab!

(I should hastily add that the Arab in question is only a 3yo, and will soon be backed and properly trained as - we hope - a dressage Arab!)

Could you post a pic of your wonderful hardy endurance Arab? I'm probably not winning many converts with pics of my glamour-boy LOL!

Just for contrast, here is a pic of my first Arab (a Crabbet stallion), who I bought as an unbroken 4yo, competing at Batsford BHS Horse Trials as a 5yo:

He was only 15.1hh but competed successfully in affiliated eventing, sj and dressage - also drag-hunted and won hunter trials. All carrying 13 stone (6ft male rider). The toughest, bravest little horse you could ever wish to meet.

Thanks SnowFlake - he was very honest, and a great character. I still miss him. He wasn't as pretty as Tobago - not dishy or refined enough for today's show classes - but he could jump and gallop with the best of them; won a lot of 'converts' out drag-hunting!

Now to me that looks like an arab I'd actually ride! I love the look & temperament of them but every one I've ridden feels "wrong" because there just isn't enough there. That lad looks lovely though.

Jacques is a real sweetie, my non-horsey mate came up to the yard he other day and she fell in love with him!!!
My 3 year old daughter loves him to bits too, he's really good with her, she made me take a pic of him sniffing her hair!!!!

i am not a fan of arabs or Tbs tbh but i have a mate with a lovely arab and i wouldnt think twice about having it of her other than the fact i tend to stear clear i like big chunky hairy multicoloured horses

i used to work with racehorses so i just cant be doing with Tbs lol (however i bet there are some nice ones out there)
 
I love all horses, their is a few breeds i wouldnt buy myself but eveyone has their own opinions on what they do/dont like. Don't know if anyone has said this already, but for all the people who are saying they dislike/hate 'hairy cobs' I thought cobs was a TYPE of horse, not BREED??
 
There isn't a particular breed that I dislike as such - although there are individuals that I could have been put off due to their owners handling/(lack of) training with them!

Beautiful to look at but thats where the interest ends im afraid, many seem too hot headed to be versatile and would worry far too much about them hurting themselves in the field.

The Arab Horse Society organizes a Marathon, the only event of its kind in the world. It is an endurance race over 26 1/4 miles and is open to all breeds, however only once since 1974 has a horse with no Arab blood won the event. I seriously doubt Arabs would be competing, moreover winning!, these kind of events if they could simply hurt themselves by being turned out in the field!

Admittedly there is a trend/fashion for breeding Arabs which aren't exactly suitable for riding (particularly in America) BUT the vast majority of Arabs have good legs and superb bone. They may look pretty but are certainly hardier than many breeds.

I can't say that I dislike any particular breeds - there are some who don't appeal to me but I am always open to change my opinion if I come across a horse of said breed who is surprisingly nice.

The Arab embodies everything I could wish for in a horse - beauty, loyalty, power, stamina, strength...I could go on...

Below is a picture of my girl chilling in the field... yes she can turn on her Arab charm when asked (see sig pics) but the rest of the time she's so laid back, she's almost horrizontal.

I don't like Highland ponies because the 2 that I have known have been horrible, ungenuine greedy little shits.
Probably not all Highlands are like that, but I have been put off them for life!

WOW! Your boy is gorgeous! Really stunning! And looks like a lovely ride as well. Is his pedigree on Allbreeds so I can look him up?

I'm sure more people will like your pic than the ones of my show-Arab. Although I think the photo below (a similar shot, although one has to imagine the rider LOL!) shows that they are not all that different. But he's got a long way to go to prove himself as your boy has.

before I lost my confidence, I adored arabs. I love my anglo, and though he makes me nervous sometimes, still think that arabs are superb horses, the ultimate horse for me.
Also love welsh cobs though! But find them quite similar to arabs in many ways so maybe thats why!
Had a haflinger who was a nut job, stubborn mean tempered and most of the time a misery (and embarrassment!) to own. Wouldnt have one again, but only because I dont know anybody with a good haflinger!
