Breeds you don't like

There's no 'breed' I dislike really.

As long as it is well put together and a nice stamp of a breed then I can appreciate it as a horse, even if it isn't to my taste.

I don't like these types of threads because they are so negative. I like most horses and ponies and I don't want to criticise any breed because it may well be someone else's pride and joy. Each to their own I say. If you love your horse then good for you, whether it is a highly bred animal or one of unknown breeding

I am shocked so many people don't like cobs :O i have a gorgy loan pony who is a cob & hes pretty much perfectt ;D you cant not like him, seriously :L

although im not so keen on hogged manes ><

& i agree, i dont like arabs much, (apart from the pretty ones on google ;P) and Kathiawari horses- the ones with the silly ears that curve inwards.

i like TBs, but not the silly fret-up ones that are bred to race, i like my fave horse from my RS who 'was never going to be fast enough to race' but its easily the cutest TB i have ever seen in my life. he jumps like a stag, flys around an XC course & altho he is quite often a stubborn mule to school, he's a veryy special horse ^^
com'on, you cant say he isnt cute!

I have a cob, I was a novice owner, BUT, theres no way on earth I'd call her slow !! She can be sharper than a knife...she's useful to me in as such as she is genuine and has a great character, and I actually DO like feathers

I try not to hold any reservations on any breed, as long as the horse in question is fit for the purpose for which it is intended, then looks are not that important to me, I am not so fickle...

Though, I DO appreciate beauty when I see it, and it wouldn't do for us all to like the same thing. I personally do not see the attraction of modern arabs, though the "old type" of arab was lovely, and I can't say I'm a fan of ID's, they always seem so bloody grumpy and I wouldn't have shettie, too much will power and attitude in such a tiny body....

I'd rather go on personality of the horse and wouldn't discount a particular breed. However, if I had to choose a couple of breeds that I'm not overly keen on it would be coloured gypsy cobs, overly fine TB's and warmbloods.

I dont tend to dislike breeds, just particular horses

I dislike the way some horses are bred for certain features (tallness, flashiness etc) or have features "man-made"- QH on steriods (great phrase) or Tennesse Walking Horses with the boots on their feet for example, but that more down to the breeders and "fashion" than the horses themselves.

I think they are both lovely.....especially the cob !!

The breed itself really doesnt bother me.. Its what was bred to make th eanimal.. Low class mares put against low grade stallions to produce worthless, decrepid animals. with much to be desired.. thats my bug bare!

Not many that I dont like except Knabstruppers - horrid things. But I do like Appaloosas.

With everything else, I actually prefer crosses (usually TBxsomething).

Fretfull ones bred to race...

HUm.. veyr stereotypical... all TB are breed to race.. thats what the breed is. they are racers.. However, i think racing makes them older and wiser.

I dont think all ones breed to race are fretfull. and i definatly dont think all fretfull ones will race.. Thats rubbish..

I like the breed, their loyal, har working, trusting, intelligent, elegant and fun.

I don't like any breed of horses in general. Bloody obstinate animals, if they are not kicking at you they are biting you, they poop a thousand times a day and get themselves injured all the time. Give me a hamster any day of the week

I have Highlands, Cobs, Warmbloods and TBs (and a donkey!!!) and I am not insulted by any of the comments, I think each to their own, if we all liked the same thing life would be very boring wouldn't it?

PS I think my donkey is insulted because nobody has mentioned him yet!

Precisely

I think its really interesting that nearly every breed or type has been mentioned here. And also equally there are people who have specific breeds/types that they love.

Now.... in reply to warmblood's being donkeys... actually I'm not going to argue that as I'm not talking to mine currently due to her inability to keep her front legs on the floor!

I dont dislike any breed as such, there are ones I would not buy should I ever have to purchase another touch wood I wont.
Top of the list of ones I would never buy are TB I admit it i am scared out of my mind of them!!! although I do handle them when I have o
Shetlands not my fave's bout would never wish one harm

I don't dislike any just some are not to my personal taste and others are the sort you have to learn to love (funnily enough TBs spring to mind!)

Arabs. Worm fodder any day, although it might be the ghastly people that tend to own them ...

Nasty colours (spots appaloosa etc) a good horse is never a bad colour.

Some of the old fasioned warmbloods can be a bit pig headed.

Most american show horses - morgans, tennesee trotters etc - vile.

Not being donkeys but looking like donkeys. I wouldn't want to offend the donkeys by claiming they have the same intellect as a WB, let be honest WB aren't the brightest crayons in the box!

I don't really mind any breeds in themselves but would probably steer clear of any warmblood type things or anything too heavy or too scrawny looking.

Magic_Magpie and I have the same idea though, I have a lusitano x TB and he is fab! I would probably always be interested in anything thats partbred with a TB - unless it was Tb x arab - now thats all kinds of crazy!
