Breeds you don't like

Aw what a lovely offer
laugh.gif
but I'm quite vain and I would worry what people would think if I turned up on a coloured cob with a wall eye
wink.gif

Having ridden Arab and TB's for the past 4 years I know what it's really like to move at speed. The power comes from behind rather than all four legs trying their little heart out to get up to a gallop. Kind like going from a Shogun to a Ferrari, you would notice the difference but you might not like it.

Arabs. Worm fodder any day, although it might be the ghastly people that tend to own them ...

Woooooooooooo. Now there's a candidate for the wooden spoon award for you.

(Don't tell me, you own an arab?

A thought though, different thread?
IS there a stereotype for an arab/CB/warmblood/QH/cob etc, etc owner?

LOL!!! This forum has given me so many laughs these past couple of days.

I get more praise for my coloured cob (with blue eyes) from the hunting people I know than from most. He's been called a 'hunting machine' by more than one person. Can't wait to get him out hunting, and if someone dare said something insulting about him...well
wink.gif

I personally think cobs are the most genuine and versatile of the lot
smile.gif

Actually I wouldn't turn down any horse because of it's breed as long as it was suitable for the job.

Hell, ghastly AND pissed off !

I wouldn't have an Arab given

And Welsh D's leave me cold

You can imagine my face when my cousin was proudly showing her new horse off to me "It's a Section DxArab"

"Eugh hew levely" I said (that's how "Oh how lovely" sounds when said through gritted teeth!)

Although I have to say I think it's the modern "show" type Arab that turns me off - especially when they are shown in hand. I can just see the attraction of an old fashioned type giving his all in the endurance field

The only horse's I'd write off on look is cobs, sorry but I just can't understand what they are useful for other than something to put a novice rider on which doesn't move too quickly.

Want to take Daisy hunting?

I like to feel something between my legs as I gallop

Now see, I don't like cobs as a general rule, BUT, love the look of this one - can I have - please? Nice horse.

I like Tb's
Trakehners
Anglos
Arabs

I tend to prefer pretty and spirited horses, but they must have a genuine willingness and do a job. As long as they have that, I'll work with their hot blooded ways happily. Mine all hunt, dressage and whatever else I fancy doing.

I also have a soft spot for highlands, I think a good one is superb.

Never met a CB I liked, but I've only met 7 or 8 so maybe have missed some nice ones.

Can't stand shetlands.

I'm not keen on blue eyes, i have to say.
Cremelos for some reason make me cringe, the only horses that i really really dislike as a whole.
And i dont particularly like trotters/walkers, although i suspect that is much do do with the bizarre breading/training/gadgets to way over emphasise the movement to a point where it's barely a functional pace.

I love Arabs and Andalusians. I'm a sucker for a pretty face and they're very very clever too, could never be accused of being 'dumb'.

More a question of which breeds would I never have for myself, rather than disliking.

Pure TB's cos I'm not good enough or brave enough! Love a good part bred though.
Arab's - hm ok I just don't like them
smirk.gif

Not very keen on the American breeds, but maybe due to just not seeing much of them

And now to really wind people up! Colour bias!!

Would never ever have a chestnut, no good reason, they just leave me cold. And don't like spots either! Love the look of greys but would prefer not to have one, the thought of trying to keep them clean
frown.gif

I think all breeds have good points and bad points plus you can't really generalise.
Personally I wouldn't buy a Tennessee Walking Horse, Connemara, Arab, TB, Warmblood and Hackney. But I do like cross with these in.
I love cobs, natives and the draught breeds
laugh.gif

Only one I would say is cobs. Not all cobs, not lightweight athletic cobs, but gypsy type cobs. I am quite short so I don't find very wide horses comfortable to ride, and I like to SJ, so athleticism is a must. So cob wise this:
http://www.gypsyvanner.net/sitebuilder/images/b3-494x535.jpg = no
but welsh cobs and that type of cob, then yes - though preferable crossed on a tb or something.

Me too Spiral. I don't like those mish-mashy cobby things, Lol! Sec D's however are in a different class and although I'd never own one, I do find them a bit more pleasing on the eye and crossed with TB then yes I would consider one.

Trakheners, haflingers, cleveland bays, welsh ds - all obstinate and/or mentally unstable

Arabs, tenessee walkers, morgans - I just find them ugly.

Thinking about it I dislike most pure breds. Any breed crossed with TB I usually like, whether its shire, warmblood, ID, new forest, welsh.....

I understand not all breeds are everyone's cup of tea - but why the digs?
confused.gif

My horse is a Cob (shock horror
shocked.gif
he's coloured too
tongue.gif
) and a bloody good one!! I defy anyone to get on that horse and not enjoy it, many people have been proved wrong in the past.

He is forward going, responsive and just an out and out gentleman. He has hunted, evented, done dressage and a million and one other things - usually placed.

I ride three TBs (one of which is mine - I know a TB AND a Cob
grin.gif
) and you couldn't get three more varied animals, one is lazy and pig-headed, one is very sensitive and the other (mine) is just very special
tongue.gif

I would never dis-regard a breed - breeding lines (or lack thereof) perhaps, but not a breed!

My hanovarian is one of the most intelligent horses i have ever encountered when it comes to training (schooling). Don't want to dig at any breeds, will always be hurting someone's feelings!

How can people not like cobs!

Mines a GYPSY cob x hanovarianxtb!

I wouldn't own a
pure bred tb, we clash
Haffie- Too head strong for my liking and my opinion is a bit like JM07's,
Fjiord- Not nice
sec B- tiny head and massive bum

I LOVE Sec A's, C's and D's, arabs, WB, andalucians, Coloureds!

I think there is good and bad in every breed! But personally i would never look to own the following:

Exmoor - too stubborn and a boring colour oh god imagine breeding them, hmmmm i wonder what colour it'll come out...hmmmmm!!!

haflingers = blonde exmoors

TB' s - now i have owned these in the past but i would never have another, nothing wrong with them, just not my cup of tea!

QH's = equine cut and shuts....
