Hiya
Can anyone who's been tell me what it's like? How's the course?
First hunter trial with my horse (long delayed due to lameness and saddle problems! :D ).

It's quite basic, it's an old PC course so don't expect anything spectacular! The height within the course can vary eg the 3ft course could have 2'6" jumps in.
There is a wide variety of fences though, ditches, turns, slightly odd approaches. Odd little step combo with a jump off into a boggy area. Water is a splash through a stream/ditch.

You go through a little wood and cross quite a few hedgelines. It is on a slope but not too steep. Plenty of parking and always a nice BBQ run by the hunt.
B won the open 2 or 3 years ago, got a huge silver cup and a lovely book on Hunting. You will see her name engraved on the cup.

It's set in old parkland with good turf and you genuinely get to jump the HT fences from local hunt meets!

It's only just down the road from me, let me know what time you hope to be there and I'll try and say Hi!

It can be interesting if you horse gets wound up by hunting/hound noise and the kennels are right alongside the lorry park.

Thanks very much Thistle that's really informative!

I won't be aiming for any cups, my main aim is to complete the 2'6 course :D

Hmm think my horse may well get wound up by hounds etc (any excuse, lol.) But that's ok :)

I don't suppose you know much about Alconbury XC do you?? They have a hunter trial the week after and I'm trying to decide which to go to.
