Have been using it for only a couple of days!
And wow what a difference!
No longer snorting and jumping 6 foot sideways when he notices his own shadow!
I am giving him 20mg a day.
I am so glad it is working, tried every calmer going but nothing seemed to work!

HI! I put the original post up re calmers. V interesting to hear about the brewers yeast, haven't used it yet just not got myself organised then stupidly went to feed merchants Friday completely forgot and got another tub of Top Spec calmer! DOH.

Not sure if this is really working though he's been on it about a month now.......

Went to clip my GG the other day, he is normally completely fine with clippers but he spooked at a noise and ripped off part of the stable wall! (string didn't break) Then bringing in from the field the other day there was some gardeners cutting down a tree in a nearby garden. OK so most horses would have had a paddy at this one, but just as we got half way across field the tree came down with a crash and my GG reared up and pranced around! Not good when trying to keep my footing in slippery mud!

Haven't been able to ride much lately though as manage frozen and roads equally frozen and they are dangerous enough round this way when conditions are OK. So understandably he will be more full of himself. Thankfully he does get daily turn out.

Know what you mean though re the spooking, had the same thing spooking from one side of a grass verge to the other in one bound last week and ending up in the road thankfully no cars coming! and like you the other horse I was out with (a Thoroughbred) didn't even bat a eyelid at the 'invisible' goolie in the hedge! I said to my riding partner as we went out that my chap was just looking for something to spook at, I could just feel his back was 'up' and he was looking in everyone's garden. A man got out of his car in full view, shut the door and we lept up in the air!

May I say that his stable is right in front of where everyone parks their car at the yard, so don't tell me he's never heard a car door shut! watch this space!!!!!!

Put it this way, if you have tried everything else, it is worth ago!

Had a look did you order the 500g of Brewers Yeast Powder looked at web site it's on for £2.99 or am I looking at wrong thing??

We use Horlicks, yes horlicks the human drink and so far its been very good! A friend who has a stud said they use it to give to the foals before weaning as obviously the idea is calming. So tried it on a few of the eventers and it has really helped on in particular - he's since won the hickstead grandprix and blenheim one so can't say it was that but he's a much happier person.

Quite a few on the yard are now having a spoonful a day, hardly expensive!!

my order arrived today (very quick delivery) - am going to try it on my TB - how much do you think I will need to give him a day? he is a 16.1 medium weight.
