Anyone know anything about Brian Lear as a SJ trainer? I'm thinking of going to a clinic of his later this month and would like some info before I part with £35!

Anything good or bad appreciated, PM if prefer.

Thanks!

He knows what he's talking about, i'd go he's good! Where's the clinic?
(ps Hattikins will prob have more recent opinions of him, i havent been taught by him for a couple of years!) x

I klnow Brian...obviously...as I see him on the circuit regularly...but have no personal experience of his training.

What I would say is that it sounds a bit pricey compared to what i've been paying for clinics / lessons recently...albeit with an int'l event rider

It's extremely pricey considering he was doing clinics at GX for £16 !!! But they have stopped running now, Grrr!!

I really need to get him out to these type of 'learning adventures' so he realises that yes shows are veeerrrrrrryyyyy exciting but he also has to work! LOL. This is sooo close by to me I'm not sure I can resist!!

It's in Pebsham, nr Bexhill?? It's only about 25-30mins for me so I'm tempted even though I think it's too expensive.....

Thanks for the advice, where's that Hattikins when you need her?!!

Hi Everyone I'm Hattkins' Mum. She's down in Brighton at a very boring (her view!) poetry convention and will be back to log on around 5 pm ish. I know she'd much rather be chatting with your lot - I can't keep her away, you'd never have known she'd had mock GCSEs for last 10 days.....

I know she'll be straight on here and give her full endorsement to Brian. He sold us her chestnut mare 'Hattie' and although her doesn't currently teach her he'll always helps her warm up and gives her masses of advice when we're at the same shows. Hattie is proving to be everything she said she would be and he does start his young horses very sweetly.

As far as his clinics go, we've never done one, but I think the high price does not reflect Brian's fees so much as a greedy venue or organiser. He also teaches privately and we think gives extremely good value for money and is genuinely interested in his pupils progressing.

Hope this helps before daughter returns and chastises me for butting in on her patch!
