Can anyone please explain to me what this actually is?
I ask this because I rode my horse on Friday, I asked her to trot and she was as lame as a duck on her off fore (Which is scarred from an old injury). She was head bobbing like no tomorrow. YM was in the arena aswell and agreed with me she was well and truly lame.
Walked her around for a bit then asked for trot again and she was sound, lunged her and she was sound, got off her, popped her headcollar on and trotted her on hard ground and turned her on a tight circle both ways and she was completely sound.
I have been in contact with the vet who says that unless she is fully lame there is not much they can do. Could this be bridle lameness or just stiffness from the old injury?
I have ridden her since and she seems to be fine..

Bridle lameness is where the horse evades the contact and truly going forwards by taking a bit of a short, skippy step with a front leg. She wouldn't suddenly go hopping lame. Its more likely she's struck herself and been a bit like "ouch, that hurt", but didn't really do any damage. Or trod on a stone if you were hacking. Just keep an eye on her but that's probably all it was IMO.

Thank you Flame_ I understand now

I am very paranoid about that shoulder because she has a huge scar on it and has gone lame on it before, but it was so strange that she suddenly just went hopping lame on it.
She seems fine now though, especially after buggering off with me on Saturday

Hopping lame is usually more a foot issue. If her shoulder was playing up, I'd have thought she'd be more stiff and unlevel, but less acutely lame.
Sounds as though she whacked herself and then got over it. Do you ride her in boots?
