What make of bridle would you recommend? Is it better to buy an inexpensive one to tide you over, and then get a better quality one later on, or to bite the bullet and get a good-quality one straightaway? Do you have a bridle that you keep for best?

The saddlers near me sells very nice Jeffries bridles but they cost a small fortune. I am happy to pay the money if they are the best - but are they?

i love Sabre bridlework, i have some about 15 years old (possibly more) and they come up as good as new every time. very highly recommended, lovely soft but strong leather, never had any stitching fray, come undone, or anything.

Ditto that

Jeffries stuff is also very nice and traditional I like it but am highly impressed with my sabre bridle.

Ive had jeffries falcon one since i bought horse and its the softest bridle ever - still in show condition after many wears after 18 months. All the cheap ones i have looked at are so hard and i think would snap easily given the chance - for safety i would splash out - imagine a snapped rein or headpiece while on a fast hack!

I've had my Jeffries bridle for about 14 years and would thoroughly recommend getting one. I've never had any problems with it and it is still in really good condition

Its worth the initial outlay I think!

my everyday bridle is a fieldhouse had it 7 years now and can still show in it.

Do have a superduper equiport rolled bridle did cost me £215 but 7 years on u would think its brand new!

I use a Jeffries everyday and wouldn't swap it for the world. Leather is very soft and well worth the initial outlay. Had cheaper european ones early on (about £35 for the whole bridle including rubber reins) and shock surprise they split after the first time of riding in the rain - despite oiling to within an inch of their life.
