Bridle rubbing horse's head?

I have a little TB gelding who has a Mark Todd bridle bought new for him when I bought the horse last October, and professionally fitted by the saddler. Over the last few months I have noticed that the bridle is starting to leave small rub marks (bare patches) on the prominent areas of the head

(cheek bones on each side of the face, bottom jaw bones etc)

The noseband and flash are done up quite tightly (he needs it!) but I have never ever had a bridle which rubs before

Anyone else experienced this please?

the only time iv had something like this was a shire i used to ride, turned out he reacted to saddle soap. He ended up getting a material bridle and it all went away, was cheaper in terms of cleaning etc too

Now before I would have said 'saddle soap, whats that' but I am good now and clean my tack regularly

I was wondering if it was just because he is fine skinned being a TB - might try him in a grackle I suppose to see if it stops the rubbing

sounds like he is a thin skinned sensitive tb, not helped by the fact that the bridle is done up tight

could try putting vaseline underneath (only tiny bit)

sounds a bit like my Trakehner.... I ended up having to get a Keiffer bridle which is padded all over for him - even a loose cavesson would rub in places. He wears a drop noseband now and it is not tight, but I have had to buy a neoprene sleeve for the back strap to stop it rubbing his chin! .... there are hardly any boots that do not rub him.... and hair falls off him if I just show him a cheap numnah

Hmmm, might look at Keiffer bridles too then, thanks for the tip

He is fine with boots etc though, they dont rub at all...

I have never rated the M Todd bridle and really regret buying it, I should have bought a Stubben as I intended
