:( took pony's bridle off and it has rubbed a patch raw on his face. I won't let the girls ride him for a few days but I am not sure how I should treat it.

Where about is the rub? My (horrendously sensitive redhead) boy is prone to rubs - particularly through coat changes. Taking off anything unnecessary (have just removed noseband for that reason) and putting a sheepskin/wool sleeve over the poll helps him - plus a little bit of coatshine on the hair underneath.

Hope it heals quickly :)

thank you. Its under the cheekpieces and the noseband :( feel really sorry for him and also worried about not being able to ride him or lead him out for exercise as he's a bit unfit.

I would say now that it has rubbed don't put anything on it, just leave it to dry out on its own. It should not take long. We had a similar problem with a leather headcollar that was too tight, might the bridle be a bit snug? Once the rub has dried I would put vasline on it when tacked up until the hair grows back.

Just do a patch test with the Vaseline first if you've not used it on him before. I used it on my mare's face where she had a tiny rub, it irritated her and she ended up with a big sore patch. I use Sudocreme now.
