Does anyone use an app to find local bridleways?

I've moved where I keep my horses and am finding lots of bridleways but really would prefer to be able to plan routes rather than just seeing where they lead (the one last night lead me to a very busy road and no option to turn back on myself :( ).

I'm going to get myself an old fashioned hardcopy OS map but I'm wondering if there are any great handy apps I could download to help me if I stray away from the area on my map!

Any ideas would be fabulous!

I have an iPhone but if there are apps that work well for other phones I guess it would be nice to share for those who have other android mobiles.

Thanks in advance!

Not an app but Bing maps have an OS option. I find this on my phone then take a photo of the screen (top button and round button at the same time) so i can refer to the pics even with no signal

Check out View Ranger app. Android version is the one I use.
App is free and you just buy the bits of OS maps you need (not expensive).
Links to GPS on your phone and shows you where you are and draws a trail if required. Map is scrollable so you can check out where to go and I think you can also create routes in it.
Great bit of kit.

I use an OS app where I had to pay about £15 (I think) for the South East maps. But it's well worth it - I use it all the time, whether for riding or running. Even if there's no phone signal, the GPS can tell me exactly where on the map I am.

That sounds good Paddymonty I think I will get that one. OS maps need updating a bit in their on screen form I feel! I quite often end up just taking screenshots on my phone from bing or a simple OS app.
