I was at Bridley for 12 years under the wonderful and knowledgeable care of Linda Carr. Under her wing, my horses flourished, and I gained confidence that I'd only ever dreamt of. Linda would do anything for you and your horses, and because of that, she became like family. Sadly, Linda was battling health issues, and decided to take a step back after a catastrophic deterioration. When I attended the yard next, it had been taken over by someone claiming to be a police officer, [content removed following complaint]. I dared question the legality of this, and started to hear whispers about 'difficult' horses being dumped on the A3 in retaliation. There was a sudden decline in horse care too - strict guidelines that Linda had kept in place for years to maintain horse welfare and health were being ignored. I decided to move after being vilified for asking too many questions, such as - could we make sure that no horse is left without hay at night (because many had been) and that late night checks continue due to them being crucial in saving many horses' lives. We had already lost one horse due to colic, and I did not want this happening again.Having spoken to the police myself, I have been advised that this so-called officer was already suspended [content removed following complaint], and she clearly hadn't learnt her lesson. [content removed following complaint]. It has been devastating to see such a beautiful and safe place be ruined by a group of people who are both corrupt and power hungry. Bridley was like a second home to me, and Linda was a rare and brilliant yard manager.

Having spoken to the police myself, I have been advised that this so-called officer was already suspended for misconduct in a public office, and she clearly hadn't learnt her lesson. Several vulnerable liveries have also been targeted by her, and staff fired because of previous loyalties. It has been devastating to see such a beautiful and safe place be ruined by a group of people who are both corrupt and power hungry. Bridley was like a second home to me, and Linda was a rare and brilliant yard manager.

This is the review that I've put on google, but since moving another 3 horses have ended up with colic due to a lack of care. It's been a horrific time. Staff are not being paid, and around 15 horses have left in the space of a week.

Please proceed with caution when considering this yard.

This sounds so awful. The stress of knowing that your horse is somewhere where it's not being looked after is very bad. The problem with yards is that they can go from being very good to awful in a day. I never understand why people take on a yard and then act in a way that means liveries up and leave. How do they make any money? I've been on some dreadful yards- promised the moon and got diddly squat. It's a dreadful industry. I recall one yard owner telling me that, ' It was a service industry and if I wasn't happy I must say something'. That approach didn't last for long and I was soon biting my lip in case the next missive was, ' If you don't like it you can always go'. I hope you have found somewhere safe for your horse.

It's been absolutely heart-breaking, but my horses are safe and settled now, which has been a huge relief. Linda Carr, the previous yard manager, was absolutely brilliant and her experience and horse knowledge was incredible. Sadly, her health took a sudden decline, and the current yard manager is just awful. Two more horses left yesterday due to welfare concerns I just don't understand how things can turn so awful within the space of a week, you know?

It was a lot of people’s safe place and second home . Linda became a second mum to a lot of people. Unfortunately due to the acts of inconsiderate and jealous people the whole place and many people have been affected. People have been targeted including staff with disabilities and people that are vulnerable. And to them that place was where they could progress and shine and meant a lot to them . The lies this woman has made and the things she twists is strange behaviour especially from someone you think you can trust . Not only has she [content removed following complaint] . She’s been kicked off other yards . people haven’t been paid their full wages , kicked off their home and given two days to basically find a new home and job . Threatened to [content removed following complaint] . It’s hurt and upset a lot of people . People that have been banned from the yard previously that are also known to the police are now working there too and have already threatened and tried to intimidate three young vulnerable people ( .

Bridley was the absolute best place for my horses for almost 5 years, Linda Carr was nothing but knowledgeable, kind and generous and a beautiful soul she took me under her wing as she did many others and helped in absolute any way she could she went above and beyond for all of us, due to her deteriorating health had to take a step back, the new “so called yard manager” bullied her way to try and take over, she is clearly not knowledgeable what’s so ever… she has left horses without hay and water resulting in colic and horses going to liphook and one sadly passing away, she has appalling standards when it comes to horse care, has been taking our money but not completing services we have paid for, left my horse in there own a fair few times. my horse has also come in with cuts that I haven’t been made aware of very disappointing and concerning, just overall the place has gone to , she has proven herself to be a bully and untrustworthy in every way possible, please please beware Bridley is not what it use to be. This woman [content removed following complaint] a police officer but has been suspended [content removed following complaint], I genuinely believe horses in this woman’s presence aren’t safe, the whole place is falling to pieces, and wouldn’t surprise me if 6 months from now it’s even more than a dump then it already is, beware of Amelia Westland and her so called” yard “ she will feed you with lies your horse will be cared for and more lies but please take a livery’s advice and stay well clear. 16 horses have left in just over a week I think that speaks on it’s own

It was such a gorgeous place. I nearly gave up horses completely because my anxiety was so bad, but Linda helped me find my confidence again. I’ll be forever grateful for that. X

I'm hundreds of miles away & know nothing of this business or this woman but generally you might want to be a bit careful what you say. It would be a bad idea to accuse an identified person at an identified place of work of criminal offenses such as horse theft. This is a public platform and you may prejudice any upcoming trial. (Or possibly get sued for libel.) It would be best to give any evidence to the police and keep to hints of dark-doings until everything becomes public.

I worked at Bridley manor when the yard was separate. We had the indoor American barn which was full livery, the outside yard was a mix of assisted DIY and part livery.
At the time Pam and Gary ran it.
There was almost never an empty stable, it was such a lovely place to be with great facilities and so close to Merrist wood and Parwood etc.
what an absolute crying shame to hear it’s gone downhill so badly.

They are aware, I think. Some of us are wondering if it’s been allowed to happen so they can build on the land. They’ve already converted some of the barns into housing.

They know but don’t care . They are part of it and all got warned but don’t care .

One of the most horrific things I witnessed was a fully grown woman (YM) shouting at a vulnerable autistic livery and reducing her to tears, giving her three days to find somewhere else for her horse and then boasting about throwing a big party when she’d gone. To this poor girl’s face Then withholding hay and shavings that she had paid for.

Another horse died at this yard last week. Amelia Westland put two alpha mares into the same field without consulting owners, and left them without supervision. One of the mares was found dead - kicked in the head. It was a livery that found her, and Amelia's and Gary Edwards' response was 'shit happens.' Please please please be careful if considering moving to this yard. Amelia is getting young, naïve teenagers to advertise on facebook on her behalf, because she knows her bad reputation.

Its gone from what was a a decent yard with a wait list, to somewhere most horse folk will swerve if they know how badly its run. Unfortunately, there are still many out there who will have no idea what the YM is really like. V sad.

Yeh :/ I don't think it will be in business for much longer. They owe thousands to feed and shavings suppliers and to the guy that provides the diesel for the tractors

This post bought back lovely memories of my experience with this individual- like sitting in my kitchen with a police officer reporting threating, harassing messages which got her suspended from the police force in August 2020.

I once shared a horse through her, and when we moved to a full-loan agreement, things quickly became uncomfortable. She became controlling, unpredictable, and difficult to deal with. We eventually agreed that I would buy the horse because I couldn’t continue working with her.

After payment, she withheld the passport for weeks, lied repeatedly, and harassed me nonstop. Ignoring her didn’t help — she messaged my mum, my boyfriend, and even friends who didn’t know her. She made threats, including saying she’d take the horse back at night, despite written proof of the sale.

It escalated to the point where I had to involve the police. She was actually working for the police at the time, but I was told she’d been suspended because of her behaviour. Comments like “there’s no point calling the police, they protect their own” said everything about her mindset.

Knowing someone like that was in the police force is genuinely worrying. Her behaviour was vile, that’s not even going into her horses she had at the time

I would never want anyone else to go through what I did. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

She made threats, including saying she’d take the horse back at night, despite written proof of the sale.

It escalated to the point where I had to involve the police. She was actually working for the police at the time, but I was told she’d been suspended because of her behaviour. Comments like “there’s no point calling the police, they protect their own” said everything about her mindset.

Firstly, I am so so sorry this happened to you, and commend your bravery for coming forwards. I hope you're ok now, and have a good support network around you.

Since my original post, I have been contacted by numerous people who have been forced to get police intervention when dealing with this woman. There are at least two restraining orders that I am aware of. Several months ago, she and her colleagues believed that I put an anonymous post up which criticised her horse care, and they decided that the most appropriate course of action was to post several fake escort pages and claim that they were me. I consulted a solicitor - at substantial cost to myself, and sent Cease and Desist letters to everyone involved. I am waiting for my name to come up again, and then we will proceed with a defamation lawsuit. It wasn't me that posted anonymously, but the comments were true and fair. Sadly, Amelia uses fear to control people, so many of her victims feel unable to speak up. Her own former partner is one of them. It is absolutely disgusting that she is still able to work with horses (and people, to be honest!)

I am so glad to be able to put it all behind me.

EDIT - Please also be aware that Amelia is merely one of those responsible for the situation at Bridley Manor Farm/Bridley Equestrian Centre. Gary Edwards is very much involved, and spent years telling people that I was faking a very severe disability. Bridley is now rotten at its core.

She’s got people banned from main Facebook groups and she’s given out peoples addresses and have had other people try threaten them on her behalf. She will come across nice to you but will gather information and then use it against you . [content removed following complaint]. How sad! I no longer have horses and not part of that world anymore. (Except through friends I met through ponies).

I am so sad she is continuing to hurt people, they must come forward. Even just to the police. They must have such a thread on her now.

Oh that is so awful I’m so sorry to hear that, she still owes deposits back, but from seems of things they don’t have any money as in debt to suppliers, everything that’s gone on since her taking over is disgusting, and the people defending her need to stop being naive, I mean the horse that died hadn’t been out with any horses in YEARS, why would you suddenly decide too ? I once knew this lady a very long time ago and unfortunately even then she found it challenging to make good choices . I was surprised to hear the news through the grape vine that she had become a police officer as her behaviour was unpredictable, erratic and somewhat stalkerish at times back then.Very sad to hear she seems to have got worse and worse and you and all of your horses have suffered in the process. I believe you are doing the right thing in speaking up about what has happened and raising awareness in the local area . I think you are brave to do it also considering how unnerving her behaviour has been to you all previously. Let us hope there will be some justice soon and thoughts are with those who have lost horses at her hands.
