Some people might remember, I was having trouble with my little, five yr old cob. I had moved him to a lively yard so that I had access to a school and some support. While there I started riding him, although he had been under saddle with a professional rider for over a year. At first things went really well and we made huge progress, including hacking , shows and lessons. However during August there were some issues with him spooking. He would be going along and then without warning he would gallop off. After a lap of the school he would pull up. It culminated with him doing this five times in half an hour. It was horrid and it really knocked my confidence. I called up his rider, who had been taking my other mainly retired horse out, so had not seen Moses. She is a very slim, slip of a woman so I asked her to take Moses out and he took off with her on four occasions. She was convinced it was pain. I contacted my instructor and she came down to see him and was also convinced something could be up. I then contacted the Chiro Vet who came out to see him and yes he had a sore back. A good session of massage, followed by acupuncture and Moses was feeling better. Although I can only apologise again to Julia for the little git kicking her!!!
At this pint I returned him home. Since then we have reduced his work load and I have been hacking out and having lessons.
Today we hacked out and went thorough the woods. He was on his toes and being just a bit naughty, funny naughty, once we hit the woods we found it full of shooters, beaters and dogs. Although they lets us through and were careful you could hear guns blazing in the back ground!!!my little horse didn't even flick an ear, he just marched through the middle of all the chaos. I was so proud of him. It wasn't until I got home and got off that I realied that for the first time I had really enjoyed a hack on my pony.....hence the pleased glow over Maidstone...alsolutley NOTHiNG to do with fireworks!!!
Toffee apples to the survivors !!!
