Bright yellow hay - what is it?

New localish hay supplier popped up on Facebook and I've just been to have a look.

The hay is so yellow I thought it was straw. Proper bright butter yellow not sunbleached. Very flat soft stems, not really any leaf or seeds.

Any idea what it is? I'm used to meadow hay, is it a specific seed hay?

There was only a sales girl to ask and she didn't know. I might give the guy a ring later. Looked good quality anyway.

It sounds like Ryegrass hay.

Sounds like ryegrass to me. Super rich stuff, nice for hunters and the like.

Rodent urine can make the hay very yellow, but that would only be the outside of the bale
