Bringing a horse from NZ to UK?

Hi

Has anyone imported a horse from NZ to the UK?

If so:

1. When and how much?
2. Which company did you use?
3. How did the VAT position work out?

had one arrive from there but it was not mine so not sure about the price or vat. but I am fairly sure it was irt that did the transport and the horse arrived looking very well

I think NZ Bloodstock do air transport, not sure fi they are racing exclusive however. I do know that it costs about $30,000NZD to get a horse from here to europe, so I'd say it'd be around that price.

You will need to pay 20% VAT on the value and import duty(circa 10%) as well it wont be easy to swallow .
