My mare has had 2 weeks off and I will be bringing her back to work next week. Do I need to build her work up gradually or is 2 weeks too short a time to really worry about it.
Don't worry - I won't be blasting round the XC any time soon - just want to know how quickly I can get back to 'normal' flatwork schooling.

If she has been turned out and normally holds fitness well I wouldn't bother 'bringing back into work' as such just use your common sense and don't over do it

My mare had two weeks off when I hurt my back recently and when I got back on her I just picked up where I left off..we only hack and do a bit of schooling though so not in a particular fitness routine.

I'm itching to! Horse was off work for a (hopefully unfounded) health scare. I get latest test results tomorrow which I anticipate will be ok and if the vet says it's ok I will be riding by the end of the day.
I bet it'll be pissing it down!

lol always the way... hope all goes well with results.... apparently if in south you'll be ok. I got wet today. oh well.

Depending on where you are, you might want to postpone riding tomorrow unless you fancy 80mph winds ;)

Fingers crossed for the results :)
