Bringing Lubo home on Wednesday :) Any hints or tips?

paranoia is understandable - the ball is too big for him to try to swallow but I can see where you're coming from.

Well we've survived the first night with minimal disruption/stress - he tried to curl up on my bed instead of his (wishful thinking :tongue3:) and he got up a few times during the night but he quickly settled down again and went back to sleep. :smile3:

yup.
he was supposed to be out on the landing. :o
I might slowly move his bed as he gets more and more settled although, to be honest, I don't mind him sleeping in my room as long as he sleeps on his own bed.

Yeah I can see the "stayin on his own bed" lasting about a week! ;-) I shut mine in the living room/kitchen overnight but she does sometimes get the odd 'treat night' if I feel sorry for her, where she gets to sleep on my bed!

he'll definitely be staying on his own bed :tongue3:
just left him on his own while I went to the horses and my house is still intact. I think I caught him creeping off the sofa in the conservatory but I'm not 100% sure.

Okie dokie - here goes... :smile3:

Lubo's settled in really well - he was a bit unsettled the first two days but he generally just made himself at home while we got to know each other. He felt comfortable enough to demand belly rubs on the first day.

He was so settled that we decided to go down to my parent's house on Saturday night. He's taken to travelling in the car like a fish to water - he jumps into the boot by himself and disappears once you get going.
He *loved* my parent's house. They have a massive garden that he could play in and it's quiet enough that we were able to let him off the lead for the first time.

He must have picked up a virus somewhere because he ended up being sick over the weekend so we've been to the vet twice already. :rolleyes3: I've spent the last two days juggling three types of medication and watching him like a hawk on walks to make sure he hasn't been eating anything dodgy.
Anyways, the main thing is that he's ok.
We've been up to the yard and met one of the horses - he was a little bit intimidated by some of the others on the yard but he was quite happy to say hello to my old boy (who was surprisingly good and didn't pull any grumpy faces). He's not quite ready to come for walks with the horses so he's going down to my parent's house on Saturday so I can take two of the boys down to the beach - it wouldn't be fair to leave him alone in the house for most of the day.

He's been very good being left alone. He has been climbing on the sofa, which he knows he isn't allowed to do but as I haven't actually caught him, I haven't been able to do anything about it. I'll have to be sneaky and catch him in the act.
He hasn't tried to climb into bed with me since the first night so we're getting there. :smile3:
He has, however, nearly pulled my arm out of the socket on walks so we've got a bit of work to do there. And he likes to chase white vans...

My dad loves Lubo - and Lubo seems to love him. :tongue3: Dad spent most of Saturday night fussing over the dog, which Lubo thought was great. He loves being the centre of attention.
He's a funny wee thing - If you sit on the floor and tell him to come and sit next to you, he'll quite happily climb up and plonk his bum down on your shins so he's right in your face. :biggrin3: I'll have to get a picture of him doing it - it's hard to describe exactly what he does.

Pictures: :biggrin3:

Day one - passed out.

He looks right at home, he's a lovely looking chap!! Re the sofa, when you're out or not in the room you could put folding chairs or a clothes rack or something uncomfortable on the sofa to stop him. This will be expecially important if (apologies if I misread that!) he has arthritis as leaping on and off high surfaces can aggravate the joints, and with him being a middle aged dog and so obviously full of fun, you want to enjoy him for a good few years yet :)

yup - that's something I'm going to have to do. He only does it when I'm out so the clothes horse is going on the couch tomorrow before I leave.

Aw bless, he looks to have really fallen on his feet! I used to put an ironing board on my sofa - to be honest, I now give up - mine only gets on the sofa at certain times (like when I just pop out to the shops) but I am pretty sure she sleeps in her own bed all night.

He still freaks me out a bit how he looks like my dog - especially the picture with the coat on. Maybe he's her dad! hehe :)

He looks lovely (and very happy!). Glad to hear he's settled so well and so quickly. Maybe a Halti would be a good idea for his walks, I found one very useful with my last dog. It looks like love with Lubo and your Dad :-)

Lovely pictures, I adore his little face - he is so sweet :) Glad he is settling in well, and I would second the idea of a Halti or similar until he settles down on his walks, there is nothing worse than having to do battle every time you go out with them but they very soon learn :)

He is gorgeous. He must be a kelpie? Sorry if you have said his breed somewhere. What a lovely boy and he looks so happy.

See, I thought me may be a kelpie as, if you google back and tan kelpie you get a dog the spit of yours and mine! I'm very tempted to have on of hose DNA tests done....!

All the paperwork says is crossbreed but the vet thinks he could be doberman-collie or alsation-collie. :smile3:

I did have a dobermann x kelpie in Australia who was quite similar, but he was much more muscular looking. Whatever he is, he looks gorgeous. I am jealous!

He looks so sweet, a little warning though. You might have a fight on your hands - it looks like your Dad and Lubo are getting on like a house on fire :)
