my 16 year old daughter has just recently bought her first horse on the transition from ponies

we've been up and down the country and tried all sorts of horses but my daughter always found something to be wrong with them as the transition from jumping pony to jumping horse has been tough for her

around 2 months ago we found a 6 year old piebald ISH and my daughter was in love

obviously she wanted a jumping horse and this horse can jump, it can just be a bit green and needs bringing on

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how my daughter could help bring her on or do you think she's taken on too much too soon??

Depends what kind of experience she's had. If she's always had 'ready made' or well schooled ponies chances are she won't be able to educate a youngster effectively.
It also depends what the horse has done. If it's already schooled, but just needs experience, it could be a good fit. If it's green or in need of lots of 'teaching' I'd pass over it.
What ever happens, if she hasn't ridden many horses as opposed to ponies, it'll be a big change anyway, with 'buttons' in different places, probably a very different stride and depending on temperament, more horse to control.

If she is 16 then educated guess says...couple of years and possibly away to uni? If she has a green 6 year old she will need to think she will be taking a lot of steps backwards while the youngster is learning..and she could be out doing more on an experienced horse. I ended buying a very nice baby at the beginning of the year but that was due to taking a hefty bath on the sale of my previous horse. I bought this baby knowing I would have to put a lot of work in and give up my real eventing ambitions this year. Now he is coming on leaps and bounds and I did buy him knowing I had professionial back up from an event rider whose " thing" is producing baby eventers. I am also probably nearer your age than your daughter with the experience that goes with it. However, if I had had the funds I had originally, I would defiantly have bought an older horse I could have just got on and gone out with,
