Heya All,

I hope you're nice as I'm only new! - Thing is, I wonder whether you would be so kind enough to give me some help. At the moment
I have a Welsh cob X who hacks out quietly, great in traffic, good to handle and knows all the basics with schooling. Except now, I'm finding that she's getting bored in the school and I'm teaching her the same things all the time. I'm going to take her out this weekend if the weather's alright and hopefully get her out more often.
So basically what I'm looking for, is someone who's been in the same situation and has found a good book that helped them!

Please help me!! ='[

Bye

hi there

sadly brining on a horse is not somthing that can be seen in a book. the best thing you could do with your horse is to seek help from a trainer, what area are you from as i might be able to reccomend one. the other thing to do is try and not do to much with your horse, eg dont school her everyday, school one day then hack then jump then hck agai then school then have a day off. also start to teach her somthing new eg changes or counter canter also try and get her out and about with other horses as this will chill her out a bit. hope this helps.

Thanks for the hint but, I'm going to bring her on myself as I have already brought my other now nearly 5 yo old, but this one is just a bit bored. She also doesn't knwo how to jump yet which is why I have taught her all the canters, trots, walks , halts, get backs, figure of eights, turn on the forhand, serpentines, but she's just getting bored now.

Thanks, for the hint though and reply, and sorry If I sound like I'm having a go because I'm not like that. I have seen some books but they're more for the older, little more experienced horse.
I do ride her pretty much everyday, but it's only for about 15 mins and very simple easy exercises. Otherwise, being a cob she gets excitable if she doesn't get ridden for a few days, and she gets grumpy if she hasn't had someone on her back for a while.

Thanks again,

Kat xxxx

Hi there!
I would maybe suggest when schooling or hacking try some lateral work in walk, keeps them focused and supple, but also as just in walk doesnt lead to stressing or rushing. Try the few strides lateral few strides straight from the centre line. Also even though shes not jumping try some pole work, this will also keep her mind on something and also help her basic flat work, raised poles are good for increasing energy and rythm to a trot or walk.
With youngsters it is about keeping them interested and rewarding good work, im glad you dont do too much with her but maybe increase(if time allows) to 20 mins or so a couple of days a week.

Thanks so much for the help!

I'm going to try the pole work as that's a great idea! I only ride her for 15 minutes because I can't think of anything else to do that she hasn't all ready - so I'll be glad to ride her more! Bit mroe variety -
thanks!
