Just finished watching this on BBC1 - anyone else see it?

They were taking four highland cows, accompanied by two Highland ponies, from Skye to Stirling, following the old drove routes. It looked amazing riding (the farmer on one of the Highlands was 82!) and the ponies were so well behaved around the scary cows with enormous horns.

This has now given me an idea for this summers holiday. I will take my cob up to my brothers farm in Dumfries, borrow some of his suckler cows and then herd them around Scotland. If we can pick up a Highland pony on the way for my OH, that would be good, otherwise he can walk behind with my dogs. Now just got to sell the idea to OH and two teenagers...hmmm not sure how that will go :)

Ahhh Shysmum, know what you mean, but Griff and I have "history". I saw him at the Edinburgh Festival many years ago in a sketch show, and he came on stage wearing nothing but an enormous tie...still makes me chuckle now :)

they did a sailing river one with a barge last week, in Essex into London, using Suffolk Punch horses to load part of the hay cargo a bit of which ended up at Hyde Park stables.

next week is a Welsh one.

really enjoy it esp as there are no adverts and hence no endless repeating/summarising every 5 minutes.
