.......I've been looking on the BD website and found a few names, underneath all the contact details and achievements etc.......there is a bit there titled 'rider group'. what does this mean? for example:

http://www.britishdressage.co.uk/training_and_judging/find_a_trainer/trainer_details/1214?county=43

Hope the link works

The lower the number the higher level that rider has won points at in BD competitions, Group 1 being the highest.
It actually explains the level under the rider group, eg in your link it says Robert Pickles is a Group 3 rider which means that he has won points at PSG........

It is the level the rider has competed at and gained points at, so for example for Robert Pickles who you have highlighted above, he has won points at advanced level and PSG, including FEI young rider classes, after 1 April 1994 - which makes him a group 3 rider.

what Law said isnt correct - its the level the trainer has competed at. Most trainers will teach anyone, and Robert Pickles is fantastic - he does loads of clinics around me and is a really good trainer.

yes i had heard good things about Robert, and he's not too far from me either so perhaps if he's not to expensive i could have a lesson more regularly!

As other posters have said it is the level the trainer has ridden at not the level that they will teach. Robert Pickles teaches people of all levels. Phone him and explain what you want to do. He is really nice.

I had two days with Robert pickles in November at Hoplands and he was fantastic...had horse going soo much better the second day and i was inspired to keep trying!!!..off to him again in April as Hoplads too far away for regular trips but if hes local to you I would go for him everytime!!!
