I would like to get into eventing a little more with my pony.
He measures as 147cm and i jump him senior BSJA as i am 19. Would i still be able to jump him BE? as a senior?
I only want to to one maybe two this year along side unaff ones as i cant afford to regerster really.
Do they have a ticket to ride like BSJA and how much are they.
Also which venues are nice in the midlands (i am in leicestershire) i would be doing Intro or Pre-novice depending on the differculty of the course. I have schooled over PN XC and showjumping fences and did PN Grasshoppers last year.

Thanks

Yup they have day tickets.

And he would be fine to BE

There are some lovely courses near us, Prestwold, Draycott, Oasby, Eland Lodge, Winkburn and Stafford to name a couple! You will be fine Intro or PN I imagine having seen the pics/Vids of Harry. Get to some of the earlier events and see whether you fancy doing Intro or PN. Yep there are day tickets, but there isthe increased likelihood of being balloted....

Lol!! It is nice, have schooled round it a few times and been placed at their unaff, but not done the BE yet!! It is expensive, you are looking around the £200 mark to join....if you are only doing 4 get tickets, or just join for the latter half of the season....

Prestwold is very nice!

and have looked at strafford and fancy going there myself next season

your looking at £130 for first full membership for you and £86 for horse..... but you can get half yr after june i think it is??

tickets i think your looking at 15 for horse and 15 for rider?? something like that

I would also see which event don't run other events that you can run at i.e no point doing Eland cus they run a Pony Club ODE there with adult section and went over whole of the intro course and half the cost and you should not get balloted out

Prestwold, Draycott, Oasby, Eland Lodge, Catton and Buckminster all run Pony Club with adult classes

So try to pick one that you can't run at Pony Club (Adult classes)

Also are you in the Pony Club cus you can run at the Area Eventing up to 21 years and that always good course

wooo thats my first event of the season then! ........

thats if my horse is sound

!! grr

though what bella says is true...... if your lucky enough to have events that run over the courses why not do them

It will be a nice first time one, was meant to be ours but unfortunately G horse hadnt got ot of dressage mode and then went lame for the second one so we are yet to make it round!! Will do next year though

just hoping mine will be ok ... hes in for lameness diagnoses with sue dison at the animal health trust at the moment eeek fingers crossed!!

Agree with KatB, Stafford is lovely, so inviting, well presented, a good confidence builder to the start of the season. It was my first one this year and will be next year aswell as its the earliest event possible that we can go to. Why do alot of events, especially the new ones seem to be down south!?

I think the new rules this re ponies

Off the BE site this is for Pony riders

To compete at Novice Level - once a pony and rider combination has achieved the qualification to compete at novice level their first novice competition must be in a Pony Trial, JRN or JON. In order to be given a free rein at novice level you must complete this first novice with no more than 20 cross country jumping penalties. This only applies to those under the age of sixteen.

To compete at Intermediate Level - as a combination ponies and riders must have completed five clear rounds at novice level. They then can only enter an OIU21 as their first intermediate. If the combination then goes clear XC, they may enter further intermediate or OI classes without additional permission. If they do not go clear, they must compete in a further novice competition before attempting another OIU21. In all cases you must be registered with the Chairman of Junior selectors and have notified the Chairman of Pony Selectors that you are attempting an intermediate. This only applies to those under the age of sixteen.

Rules are changing again for 2008.

Not only are the theiveing barstewards charging full membership for juniors over 16 Bee will not be allowed to JRN Floss unless she is fastracked as they are a new combi. Grovelling letter to JRN coord time.
