british eventing

If too many people enter an event, some of them will be ballotted!!
When you join BE, you're given 'ballot stickers' and one? 'super ballot' sticker.. you put these stickers on the events you REALLY want to do, so in the case of a ballot, you shoud get in!

I think you can still be ballotted with a ballot sticker, and obviousy not with a super ballot. (if you do get ballotted with a normal ballot sticker, they stamp it, and that also becomes a super ballot sticker)

*i say this touching as much wood as i can see*
But in the 7 years i've been BE eventing, i've never been ballotted, so hardly ever use my ballot stickers!
*that said, i'll probably be ballotted from every event next year

well, i think that you shouldn't/can't be balloted if u put a sticker on?? Apparantly with balloting, day tickets horses and riders are balloted first and then the members of BE, having said that, the horse and the rider i groom for are registered and they got balloted twice last year!!!!!!

You get two super ballot stickers. Each event has details of how many they balloted the year before on the programme so you have an idea of whether you need to use a sticker or not. As a rule at the March and April events at the lower levels you will need a sticker, they are so heavily over-subscribed. I've been balloted a couple of times, once from Mattingley's showcase IN, and once from a PN I think. Whether an event states it in their programme or not, if you clearly offer to provide a helper you are extremely unlikely to get balloted! And yes, day tickets are first to get balloted. Other things to watch out fro are: not filling in your qualifications properly on the back of the sheet at higher levels; making sure your entry is in early; be as easy as possible with dressage times etc
