What are peoples opinions on British Horse Feeds Speedi Beet for weight gain and stomach health for their TB's? I am loving the fact it has absolutely no starch at all.
thank you !

I’ve used it when Ive bought natives that needed a little extra condition. There are probably better feeds for weight gain, but for those that can’t tolerate Alfalfa it’s great. I usually feed with Micronised Linseed.

I used to use it but didnt find it did much, I put mine on Calm & Condition over this winter and so far they're looking great including my veteran who often looks skinny by this time of year. Its 19% starch which is probably quite high though.

I wouldn’t use speedibeet for weight gain. I feed it as a low protein low fat feed.

When my TB did have it when he was having a liver issue and needed low fat low protein I actually found it upset his stomach, but I know lots of people feed it as easy on the stomach and good for the gut. Probably in a minority to have that reaction.

There was some negative press about beet, something about the hindgut not processing it? My memory is very vague but for a while a few years ago it went through a phase of being a no.

I fed it years ago to various horses. I switched away from it to Keyflow Pink Mash and noticed that the horses looked better on it.

Speedibeet is slightly higher calories than Pink Mash so at one point I did swap back. The difference was noticeable so I swapped back to Pink Mash and haven't used it since.

Don't get Mr wrong it was a useful feed that I fed for years but personally I got better results from Pink Mash

I use it with a straw chaff for both horses. A belly filler, but both of mine are good doers so I don't need extra calories. I like that it gets liquid into them, especially after Rigs had an impaction.
