While on hols in somerset at the weekend i decided to visit the miniture spring show as i have been thinking of investing in one to show for my son.
the venue was lovely. the morning was interesting been able to watch them been measured, the showing started off great (i could see why the winner won) a beautiful well turned out stallion but after winning his 2nd class (a qualifier) a complaint was put in about his height (he had measured in that morning and has a jmb cert saying so) after which he was striped of his qualification and rossettes and made to re-measure in the middle of the show ground (been a stallion he had puffed himself out and grown to 16hands). what i cant understand is how can any horse measure in in the morning and be brought out of the ring to be re-measured in the afternoon?? surely in this situation the owners should of been informed of the complaint in wrighting and then been asked to bring the horse back for re-measuring at a differant venue on a differant day and been done 3 times throughout the day and then taken the average height of these??
it has made me think twice about buying one to show or atleast about buying a good one because i can only come to the conclusion that all this fuss is over the stallion winning a qualifier that some one else thought they should have qualified for? but i wouldnt of been happy to qualify in 2nd place after gettng the winner removed to be moved up from 3rd. would anybody else feel the same way?? views please im very confused on how this was handled.
