hey, can anyone please explain to me what the british novice second rounds are all about? i quailfied within two weeks, gaining all 4 of my double clears in one go and now have my second round this weekend at royal leisure but not quite sure of the rules and the whole table A8 thing...three rounds????? why three, do i just aim for all three double clears? do i qualify for something else after, scope maybe?
i'll be much appreciated if anyone can help me,
Thank you

Hiya in Table 8 you will jump a full course which is not against the clock, you should aim for clear. The second round is a shortened round, still not against the clock but it goes up 10cm, so you should aim for clear still. The third round goes up another 10cm and is a round against the clock, it is wise to go for a forward clear if possible. Depending on the venue, there is usually not hundreds of clears but in british Novice you will need to be moving on to be placed. You qualify for the Scope Festival. In Junior's the top ten qualify and the maximum height in the second round is 1.00m and a water tray is mandatory. In seniors it is run as 1 will qualify if more than 25, 2 if more than 50 etc. and the maximum height is 1.20m in the jump-off.

thank so much thats made things a lot clearer, if you're unsuccessful in the first or second round are you then knocked out for the third round?
im a senior so will there be a water tray?
is the third round shortened? will the order of the course be changed every time?
will it be drawn order?
do u no royal leisure?
sorry for all the questions.

Right, yep only the clears go through to the next round each time. If you fault in the first round you cannot do the second or third round. If you fault in the second you cannot do the third round.
In the rule book, for seniors a water tray is optional unlike juniors. There is a good chance there may be one though as there usually is.
The course is shortened each time. The first round will prob have 12 jumps with double/treble. The second round prob 8/9 jumps, possible different course but usually just minus a few jumps. 3rd round prob 6 fences from a selection of all the jumps against the clock.
It is usually drawn order if you prebook, if it is enter on the day it is usually put your own name down.
Erm I Haven't been to Royal leisure before, sorry!
Hope this helps, let me know if you need to know owt else!!

thank u, you've been a great help, will keep u posted with my results too, do u think i should call royal leisure to see if its drawn order?

Royal Leisure is a nice venue, it has a sand and rubber surface for both the arena and warm up. The first round probably won't be drawn order but the 2 jump offs will be. The last round will be at least 1.20, and I'm guessing people will be going pretty quick as depending on the number of starters there will only be 1 or 2 qualifying spots.

thank u for you help, is there outside facilities, will i be needing to stud up :-(

You won't need studs if they're running it on their all-weather.

There is normally a warm up class first, if you need one, be worth a call to sec for schedule.

The class preceeding is a 1m Open
