Having not run since Barbury due to several small proplems occuring one after the other I finally manged to keep Ed in one piece long enough to get to an event. Decided to run in the OPN as we were a bit short on SJ practice and i just wanted a bit of fun.

When we got there we ended up parked right next to the cross country and having not been to an event for a few months this completely wound ed up so by the time we warmed up for the dressage he was about to explode. Did an awful test he was tense, i went wrong and ended with a 44.5 which is an all time low for us

.

Went on to the SJ. The collecting ring was very busy and the sj steward had not been given a board and was finding it hard to keep up with who was going when. This led to a lot of horses hanging around trying to figure out when they could go. When we finally got to go ed was very stuffy at the first (never has been any good at hanging around) but after that he flew round and jumped a lovely clear

.

Straight onto xc. Popped over the warm up fence and he felt fantastic. Last time we had a run he had been very flat and i discovered afterwards that he had bee anaemic. Had a great round and finished well inside the time without trying

. No placing due to the awful dressage but had a really fun day.

Not only was this the last event of the season it was our last event ever together

. After 10 years eventing together ed will be gong on loan to a friend at the beginning of november. This is so he can show someone else the ropes but at the same time have an easier life as he will not be running above PN.

He has been and propably always be the greatest horse I have ridden. He doesn't have the best conformation but what he lacked in this he made up for in heart. I have a lot of memories of our competition together. Here is a list of some of his best bits.

Winning his first ever dressage competition as a four year old.

Winning the small open and open riding club finals as a 5 year old.

Winning his third ever PN at Hartpury.

Our first BE points in the novice at Withington

8th place in the CCI* at chepstow.

Jumping round the intermediate track at Gatcombe (this was the xc ride of my life)

Well done at Broadway, you both had fun, thats what's important!
Ed sounds like a lovely horse and is sure to have a happy life ahead of him! Well done with all you've achieved and I'm sure he'll give your lucky friend many years of enjoyment
