Brogini boots-my daughter is a giant!

Had a trip to hoys on Saturday to find a pair of tall riding boots for my daughter. She's 11, just over 5' and skinny.

We tried lots of boots. Non fit although £300 tredsteps came the closest-extra slim and extra short size 5. Ouch at £300!!!

The guys on the Brogini stand measured her legs and said she needed an adult size 5 (yep that's her usual size) either a 00 or 0 calf size and an extra extra tall size!

suffuce to say he didn't have any extra extra tall for her to try on to check the height although he had a size 5, extra slim 000 standard high which she couldn't even do up ( but the foot size fit!).
is she a giant or do tall people not wear Broginis??

does anyone have any suggestions of a not too expensive, while her feet are still growing, tall riding boot?
 
Yes she's already got half chaps but she asked for boots for Xmas. Leather chaps can still cost £100 but it may be our only option. I just cudnt believe that someone that is 5' could need extra extra tall boots
 
Al had a pair of Broginis, which have been binned as they fitted so badly despite being 'fitted'! She now uses leather gaiters and joddy boots, which the sum cost was about £50... She found Treadstone were really good, £15 on eBay!

I think there's a brand I've seen on twitter which are much liked which do custom boots for less than that... I think it's Jaggard Equestrian? Apparently they're good. Think you have to phone them though for a quote.
 
My daughter was the same, 36" legs up to her armpits and none long or skinny enough that weren't too expensive that she wouldn't grow out of too quick. We ended up buying joddy boots and some lovely soft and supple gaiters from the English Gaiter Co. They did so many combinations of sizes and are very good competition quality, lasted daughter for years!
 
I had exactly the same problem as your daughter and in a sense still do. I'm now 19 and only got my first pair of Brogini boots last year. Prior to that I had short boots and gaiters as my legs have filled out over the years. Personally I would say that buy her a nice pair of short boots and leather gaiters that you can always change if her legs get any wider and invest in some smart leather long boots when she's older. I know it's not what she wants but what you don't want to do is fork out on some boots that she will most probably grow, or more to the point fill out of, of when she's older :).
 
I had the same problem for my 15 yr old son, he is 6 ft tall, muscular calves and a size 11 foot!!! But after hours of trying on, we found a pair of mark Todd brown boots that were perfect, we have been looking for over a year!! But I do think these will last a good few years as his feet seem to have stopped growing. I am glad I never got any when he was a size 9 as I would have only got 9 months out of them!!
He used jod boots and chaps for last two years riding, keep looking you will find some soon.
 
i would keep trying with the broginis - i absolutely adore mine - i have a different problem in that - although i'm not exactly short 5ft6/7 i have short lower legs and all long boots are too long, but have quite skinny legs - got some brogini's from ebay as seconds 00calf short height size 6 :) very painful to break in but soo comfy now!
 
We'll I'm 5'10" with long legs... I love my broginis the only boots I could find that don't have acres of space around the ankles, I have the field boots and I love them! I think equitector do a really wide range of sizes (although they told me they'd have to make to measure as they didn't have any narrow enough for me... And I'm no skinny mini! But do have teeny tiny ankles!)
 
Well. I measured her leg myself tonight and it's 43" from heel to knee crease not 46" like the guys on the Brogini stand measured, 3 times! That makes her standard length not extra extra tall. Muppets!
